Construction Report

The document discusses safety procedures at construction sites, including proper personal protective equipment like head, eye, and hearing protection. It emphasizes the importance of competent supervision to ensure safe erection of formwork according to design and preventing overloading of members. Supervisors must carefully check installation and storage/handling only by properly trained employees. Overall site safety depends on proper training, instruction, and supervision of staff.

5.

0 SAFETY AT SITE

Some construction site jobs include building houses, roads, workplace and repair
and maintain infrastructures. Occupation fatalities are individuals who die while on the
job or performing work related tasks. Within the field of construction it is important to
have safe construction sites.

1. Head Protection

Head protection is an item of personal protective equipment (PPE), which

generally designed to protect the scalp area and sometimes the jaw
as well.

2. Hearing Protection

Ear protection refers to devices used to protect the ear, either externally
from elements such as cold, intrusion by conditions, debris, or
specifically from noise.

3. Eye Protection

Eye protection is protective gear for the eyes, which comes in many types
depending upon the threat that is to be reduced.

4. Visibility Vest

A personal protective equipment (PPE), is any clothing worn that has

highly reflective properties or a colour that is easily discernible from
any background.

5. Hand Protection

Hand protection is saving one's hands from any sort of injury at work.

6. Foot Protection

Foot protection is any piece of personal protective equipment protecting

one's foot from any injury while at work or during movement.
6.0 STRICT SUPERVISION SERVICE TO ENHANCE EFFICIENCY AND SAFETY

The most effective means of achieving safety in the use of forms is to have
competent supervision during erection and concreting. Supervisors must see that
formwork is constructed exactly as designed, following a safe erection procedure so that
no members are temporarily overloaded. We, our supervisors always carefully check
out the proper installation in terms of whether formworks have been set up and
assembled.

Many accidents occur in formwork product handling when employees, particularly

those who are young or inexperienced, use machine and equipment, or handle heavy
and awkward materials in hazardous circumstances and without proper training.
Storage and handling systems should not be used by anyone who is not properly
trained. In law 'use' means "any activity (involving work equipment) and includes
starting, stopping, programming, setting, transporting, repairing, modifying, maintaining,
servicing and cleaning".

Employee safety is largely depended on proper information, instruction, training

and supervision. Staff must be :

i. Informed and trained, so that they understand the nature of any risks to
their health or safety, or that others, from the work they do and the
measures necessary to adequately control them.
ii. Instructed as to the safe systems of work they must follow.
iii. Supervised to ensure that they follow the instructions and training given to
them.
iv. Involved in the health and safety management system and decision
making process.
