Introduction
In light of the pandemic, we will be learning common phrases used in the Philippines when we
want to encourage or help our fellowmen.
Ang mga madalas na sinasabi kapag gusto nating ipasaya o tulungan ang ating mga kapwa tao.
Transition
Kumusta literally means how are you, while Araw means day. Ang is used as a topic marker. In
Filipino, the words mo and ikaw means you.

Naniniwala is to believe.

Iyo
Nandito means “here”, and in this context, para is a benefactive marker that means “for”.
We can also help each other by sharing words of kindness and reminders.
Ingat means “careful”. Mag is a prefix that verbalizes nouns into imperatives. So Magingat
means “Be careful.”
Isuot literally means “to wear”. Iyo with the connector “ng” becomes the possessive pronoun
“your”.
Kailangan translates to “need or must”, manatili means “stay”, and bahay is “home”.
