Week 2 This week was spent researching target audiences

What did you find out about your target I learnt a lot from my research, I found out a lot about what 40-
audience through your secondary 60-year olds enjoy watching, their hobbies and some of the other
research? types of things they do. I found out that my target audience prefer
to watch dramas as they like the suspense and the feeling of not
knowing.

How will this help you in adapting your Well by understanding that my target audience prefer to watch
idea to meet the chosen audience? dramas it means that I can make sure that I can adapt my short
film idea to make my audience feel more tense and want to watch
my short film to the end. I need to make sure that my target
audience feel engaged.

How useful was interviewing people I found it difficult to interview my target audience due to
from your chosen target audience? coronavirus. It meant that I couldn’t film my interviewees in an
interview format, but I have also found it difficult to record my
chats with my focus group as so many things have gone wrong
with the audio side of the recording when trying to record a zoom
or even facetime. I also felt as though my question could have
been better, they as they were quite closed questions, so it was
hard for my audience to answer. I also found it hard to secure
interviews with people as they are all still working and are busy
doing other important things. In the future when I do my FMP, I
will make sure I ask more open question and have a good variety
to ask them.

Was it difficult to get a large response to I found it extremely difficult to get responses for my survey I
your survey? How could you improve tried many things to get responses such as emailing to my
the number of respondents for your parents’ friends and even placing it on Facebook community
FMP? groups. The problem was my survey was quite long to answer as
you had to watch six videos on YouTube which really turned
people’s attentions away from my survey. When creating surveys
for my demographic age group in my FMP I will create surveys
that aren’t too long which will take my respondents attention
away from what they are doing for too long.

What have you found to be the key When collecting answers for my survey and focus group I found
things that you should be targeting your that my audience want to be able to relate with the characters we
audience with? What makes this see on screen and to feel completely engaged by the action in the
audience different to the one you never scene. I also found that most of them preferred drama related
chose? series or short film and that most of them have been watching
crime dramas on TV recently.

Are you on track for the week? No, I’m not on track as I need to analyse my survey and focus
group.

What work needs to be completed in I’m trying to get more responses for survey, so I still need to
your own time? complete that, and I was having troubles getting the screen
recording to include audio for some of the participants on the
focus group, so I need to do that.
