Create Your Own Element
Create Your Own Element
Say one day you stubbled upon something that was unknown and you were the first person in the
world to see it! Everyone in the world is looking at you to explain this unknown substance to us
and what it could do. You are tasked with naming and explain this unknown substance that you
have found.
Requirements
1. Name it – Come up for a creative and fun name for your element
2. Assign it an atomic number, atomic mass, a group, a period, and a family on the
periodic table (this all must coincide with the present periodic table)
3. Is it a solid, liquid, or gas at room temperature? What would be the boiling point?
Melting Point?
4. Can it interact with other elements easily or is it touchy feely and like to be by itself?
What would happen if it came in contact with other elements?
5. Show us the Bohr atom, Lewis dot structure, electron configuration, and noble gas
configuration (this all must be accurate with the atomic number and atomic mass you
assign your element)
6. Information is presented in a creative way. (Poster, pamphlet, children’s book,
Instagram page, newspaper article)
7. It must have color, a picture, and accurate information
