The document summarizes the history of computers from the abacus through six generations of computers to modern digital computers. It also defines ergonomics as the study of the physical relationship between people and computer tools, explaining that ergonomically correct computer setups and techniques are important to reduce strain and injuries when working with computers. Proper understanding of how to use computer parts and tools is necessary to operate computers safely and avoid potential damage to equipment or health issues for users.

The history of computer is quite interesting .The Chinese abacus was the one of the
early inventions that helps humans per form mathematical calculations. After the
invention of a multitude of a diverse device such as jacquard loom (1805) and
Charles Babbage’s analytical engine (1834) calculating machines evolved into the
modern computer that we see today. Now a day’s world is dominated by digital
computer.

Generations of computers:
Electron Computers at their various stages of their evolution,
have been divided in to six generations. Every new generation has certain dramatic
improvements when compared to its previous generations. The six generations of
computers are

 The mechanical era (1623-1900)

 First- generation (1937-1953)

 Second -generation (1954-1962)

 Third -generation (1963-1972)

 Fourth -generation(1972-1984)

 Fifth -generation (1984-1990)

 Sixth -generation (1990-till date)

 The mechanical era:

The most important invention in this era are
telescope, human-powered submarine, steam turbine, micrometer, pendulum
clock, barometer, pressure cooker, thermometer and Morse code.
 First Generation (1937-1953)
The most popular inventions of this time
were electron microscope, photo-copier, atomic bomb, microwave oven, and the
most important invention of this time is fiber optic, to a name few.

 Second Generation (1954-1962)

During this time the most popular
invention were audio cassette, halo gen lamps, video disk, larc, Ibm 704, and the
most important inventions of this time was microchips.

 Third Generation (1963-1971)

Calculator, computer mouse,
ram, Arpanet, ATM, barcode, reader, floppy disk, the dot matrix printer, liquid-
crystal display, microprocessor, etc. are the most important inventions of this time.

 Fourth Generation (1972-1984)

During this era the popular
inventions were calculator, computer mouse, RAM, Barcode reader, the daisy-
wheel printer, floppy disk, LCD and microprocessor etc.

 Fifth Generation (1983-1990)

The fifth generation
inventions include CD-ROM, Windows program, Doppler radar, HD television and
3D gaming etc.

 Sixth Generation (1990-Till Date)

The popular inventions of this
era include WWW, HTTP, HTML, Web TV, Java, DVD, iPod, YouTube etc.
 Definition:
Ergonomics is the study of the physical relationship
between the people and the computer tools.

 Explanation:
Now more than ever before people recognize the
importance of having ergonomically correct computer furniture and
using proper posture and techniques while working with computer. The
term ergonomically correct means that a tool or a working place is
designed to work properly with the human body, and thus reduce the
risk of strain and injuries.
For example: if a man is not properly know the use of
any computer parts than there are many possibilities that the computer
can damage.
Another example is that if a man is not properly know how
to use a mouse than that person cannot use the computer, and there is
a chance that a computer can also damage.
From the above
discussion it is clear that there must be a relation between the humans
and the working tools of computer. If a man not know the use of
computer than it may damage the computer parts and there is also a
possibility that the death of a man would occur because of electric shock.
