Instructions to candidates

1. All questions carry equal marks

3. Answer only FOUR questions in essay format
4. Time allowed is THREE (3) Hours

Question 1

International Commercial Terms (Incoterms) are a significant component in Logistics


and Supply Chain management. Explain the following terms under logistics and indicate
their relevance in commercial terms, roles and responsibilities

i. CPT- Carriage Paid to (5marks)


ii. CIP- Carriage Insurance Paid to (5marks)
iii. DAT- Delivered at Terminal (5marks)
iv. DAP- Delivered at Place (5marks)
v. DDP- Delivered Duty Paid (5marks)

Question 2

UNIVERSAL MINING & CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES LTD is a wholly Zambian owned


company, registered in Zambia in 1989, and a subsidiary company under the distinct
umbrella of the TRADE KINGS GROUP OF COMPANIES, are manufacturers of Steel.
The Integrated Iron and Steel Plant produces more than 200,000 tons of steel rolled
products per annum of different profiles, sizes and length for first domestic consumption
and then for export using 100% domestic raw materials and energy resources.

You have been employed as Procurement Analyst having served in the Public Sector, in
detail explain the difference between the two types of procurement systems

Customized Clearing and Forwarding (CCF) is abreast with changes in the industry and
wishes to introduce e-business to its operation.

Advise this firm on the uses and benefits of e-business and Information Technology (IT)
in the Supply Chain. (25marks)

You have been asked to present a key note speech to CILT International Convention
2017 in Macao on Global Supply Chains Financial Challenges. Your task is to
prepare paper. (25marks)

With reference to theoretical foundation of Supply Chain Management, explain your


understanding of the concept of the supply chain operations, by explaining the
relationship between Procurement and Supply chain. Analyze and evaluate the
performance of the supply chain.

Decisions between Efficiency and Responsiveness in Supply Chain Operations- a
Zambian perspective’.
With the reference to the various modes provide the strengths, weaknesses and
