A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 3

I.OBJECTIVES: at the end of the lesson the students will be able to

a. Identify subtraction with regrouping in hundreds.
b. Subtract digit numbers with regrouping in hundreds.
c. Practice to actively cooperate in the class.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Subtraction with regrouping in the hundreds.
Author: Jobina T. Uy
Books: Mathematics for Dynamics Minds
Pages: 52-54
Materials: Visual Aids
Subject Integration: Christian Living
Values Integration: Cooperation.
III. PROCEDURE: Developmental Method
Teacher’s Activity Pupil’s Activity

1. Preparation
 Prayers
May I ask everyone to please ( The students will do)
stand for our prayer and may I ask
someone in the class to lead the
prayer.

 Greetings
Good morning class.
How are you today? Were fine.

 Checking of attendance
Who’s absent today? None teacher.
Very good!

2. Review
Who can still remember our last
discussion?

Okay! Moris? Our last discussion was all about

subtraction without regrouping
Very Good! Moris teacher.
So, before we will proceed to our
next topic I have here a sets of
number. Who among you here can
solve the number one?
Yes, Chad?

1. 3, 788 1. 3, 788
2, 176 2, 176

Okay, very well! Then how

about number two? Yes,
Jane?

2. 7, 654 2. 7, 654
6, 521 6, 521

Now the last one?

Yes, Izzah?

3. 9, 342 3. 9, 342
7, 211 7, 211

Do you have any question about our

last discussion? None teacher.

Okay, Since you don’t have any

question, we will now proceed to our
next discussion.

B. MOTIVATION

Before we start I will divide you into

two groups.

I have here a pair of shape all you

have to do is paste the shape
according to the number and its place
value. Do you understand? Yes, Teacher.

Th H T O
For the group one I have here 3,365

Th H T O

For the group one I have here 1,654.

Now, class since our last topic was

subtraction. You already know how to
subtract. Am I right? Yes, Teacher.
Okay, but what if we will have a
regroup number. Do you know how to
subtract it? No, teacher.
C. DISCUSSION

Okay, since you don’t have any idea

on how to subtract number with
regrouping in this morning we are
going to discuss about regrouping in
the hundreds.

Everybody read

Now class, what is the first step in

subtracting again?

Yes, Darion? Subtract the Ones

That’s right.

So, we have here

1. 3,365
1. 3,365 1,654
1,654

So, how about the second step in

subtraction?

Yes, Hazel? Subtract the Tens.

That’s right.
Now, who among you here can
subtract the tens?

Yes, grace?
1. 3,365 1. 3,365
1,654 1,654

As you can see right now, the third

step is you are going to subtract the
number but the numbers should
subtract a lowest we subtract it in.

Now, how can we subtract this

number?

Anyone else? Yes, Izzah? Regroup the number teacher.

That’s right! In the other word in order

to subtract it we need to regroup the
number first.

Regroup 1O hundreds+ 3 hundreds=

13 hundreds

subtract the hundreds

13 hundreds -6h= 7houndreds

Subtract the thousand

2 thousand-1th = 1 thousand

D. GENERALIZATION

Again, what are the steps in

subtracting with regrouping in the
hundreds?

Give one Ana? Subtract the Ones.

Another one? Yes, Rodrigo? Subtract the Tens.

What else? Yes, chad? Regroup the hundreds and subtract

the hundreds.
And the last step? Yes, Jely? Subtract the thousands.

Okay! All your answers are correct.

Let us give 5 claps for ourselves. (The Students will do)

Do you have any question? None Teacher.

Since you don’t have any question I
will divide you into two groups. This
row is a group 1 and the next row is
the group 2.

So, I have here a Manila paper all I

want you to do is solve.

I. Find the Difference

1. 2, 376 1. 2, 376
1, 843 1, 843

2. 7, 298 2. 7, 298
4, 865 4, 865

3. 4, 578 3. 4, 578

6, 821 6, 821

5. 4, 48 5. 4, 48
1, 736 1, 736

III.VALUES INTEGRATION

Class, did you enjoy your activity? Yes, Teacher.

Did you all participate? Yes, Teacher.

Very good! It is important that all of us

should participate the activity in order
to make it easy and fun. Understand? Yes, Teacher.

IV.EVALUATION

Direction: Find the difference with

regrouping in the hundred.

1. 8, 276 1. 8, 276
