Lesson Plan 2
TOPIC : Alphabet

Expansion 1: Things in the classroom

Duration : 1 hour

Goal : 1. The students are able to pronounce each letter correctly.

2. The students are able to spell the words.

3. The students have insight about vocabularies related to things in the classroom.

Material : 1. White Board

2. Board Marker

1. Warming-up.

a. Ask the learners to spell the letters started from A-Z together.
b. Correct the mispronunciation from the learners.
c. Try to ask each learner to pronounce the letter. It will take time if we ask them one by one
to spell all the letters. Therefore, point one students to start the spelling from A then point
out another students randomly to spell the next letter until Z.
d. Ask the learners to spell their name. The instructor may point them randomly or ask for the
volunteer to start first. (E.g My name is DERY. D-E-R-Y).

2. Expansion 1

a. Ask the students to mention as many as vocabularies (things in the classroom) that they
found and wrote.
b. Correct the mispronunciation.
c. Introduce other things in the classroom which aren’t mentioned yet by the students.

(Note: once you introduce the new vocabularies, ask the students to repeat the word after you
and encourage them to say the word loudly).

3. Ice breaking games.

a. Telephone Game or Whisper Game.

Firstly, split the class into two or three groups. Secondly, Ask each group to make a line and
they have to face the white board. Those who stand at the back, pick a word from the
instructor. Then, they have to pass it on by whispering it to someone in front of them until it
reaches the last player in line. Finally, the last players have to write the word on the white
board. Everyone will get their turn to write therefore after the last players wrote the word,
they have to go to the back line.

Note : The instructor gives the paper that contains a word, then the instructor must whisper
the word to the learners before they pass it on so that they will know the pronunciation of
the word. However, its up to the learners whether they want to whisper by pronouncing the
complete word or by spelling each letter. The students are beginner. Therefore, its expected
that the instructor count the score per letters.

b. Alphabet Race

a. Divide and line up the students into two teams.

b. Divide the boards into two halves and have one student from each team run to the
board, write “A”, then run to the back of the line.
c. The next students writes the next letter, etc. The first team to finish wins.
c. BOMB

b. Pick a category of vocabulary you want to revise (Things in the classroom). Students
pass the ball. When they get the ball they must say a word. They can’t repeat any words
