DATE: 22 February 2018
TIME/LENGTH OF LESSON: 50 minutes
LESSON: Module 2, Lesson 2f – Activities and Hobbies, Animals
TIMETABLE FIT: Students learnt, the previous lessons in this unit, about
family members and their pets, and also about appearance
and personality. (Student’s book, pp. 34 - 40).
Revising ten activities and hobbies will be the next step.
They will also listen and read for specific information.
MAIN RESOURCES: • Limba modernă 1, Limba engleză, Clasa a V-a,
Student’s Book + Digital Book, Uniscan Grup Educațional, Jenny Dooley,
MAIN LESSON AIMS: By the end of the lesson the students will be able
to: 1. give examples of activities and hobbies;
2. ask and answer questions about the key-
vocabulary;
3. name at least two characteristics of
mammals, birds, fish, insects and
amphibians, examples included.
SKILLS: all
INTERACTION: Teacher – Students, individual work, pair work
TEACHING TECHNIQUES: presentation, demonstration (performing
actions, the use of gestures and facial expressions), choral drill, pictorial
illustration, conversation, dialogue
TEACHING AIDS: personal computers, overhead projector, loudspeakers,
digibook, flipchart, markers, IWB (intelligent whiteboard)
STAGES OF THE LESSON:

I. WARM-UP activities: ◊ greeting, taking the register, checking their


homework, revising the most important contents of the previous
lesson using the pupil’s book and its digi version.

Time allotted: 5 minutes.

II. Lead-in/Introduction: - T will ask her students to look at the next


lesson on pages 45 - 46 in their book.
- T will put down the date, the title of the
lesson and the number of the page this
lesson starts on.
- T will insist on the two words that make
up the title of the lesson, i.e. activities and
hobbies. She will ask her students to give
examples of activities that they do every
day. She will also encourage them to say
what their hobbies (favourite free time
activities) are.
(3 min.)
III. Presentation: ◊ T will overproject her Ss the title of the lesson –
Activities and Hobbies - (Student’s Book, p. 45) and also the new
vocabulary section.
◊ Exercise 4/p. 45, listening and writing, individual
work, class work. T will ask her Ss to read, listen to, repeat and put
down the key vocabulary – sing, jump, dance, swim, ride a bike, cook,
surf, draw, play football and play the guitar – making use of their
books, digibook, IWB, flipchart and their notebooks, as well.
◊ Exercise 5/p. 45, reading + speaking, pair work, class
work. Ss will be explained the content of the “CAN” table. Two
students will read out the model and then, in pairs, they will make up
dialogues of the kind.

IV. Practice: ◊ Exercise 6/p. 45, listening and writing, individual work,
class work. Ss will listen and complete the gaps (1-5) in their
notebook. They will also see the video. The solutions will be put down
on the flipchart.
(7 min.)

ANIMALS, p. 46 – T will ask her Ss to give examples of animals.


◊ Exercise 1/p. 46, reading + listening.
- Ss will name the animals that are
illustrated on this page.
- They will check the meaning of the
following words using the picture
dictionary prepared: fur, fin, scale, smooth,
skin.
- Ss will listen to and read the text and
decide if those six sentences are R (right)
or W (wrong). They will solve the exercise
in their notebook and the solutions will be
also put down on the flipchart.
- They will also watch the video.

V. Reinforcement: T and her Ss will revise the main aspects of the lesson
using the vocabulary section of the digibook. (2 min.)
VI. Evaluation: a KAHOOT game, systematic observation, marks
registered.
(7 min.)
VII. Homework: exercise 1/p. 48, (explanations: approx. 2 min.).
