NAME: Gerrylie I. Gallardo GRADE: 10 SECTION: Graham Bell SUBJECT: Science QUARTER: First Week: 1

This document contains a student's notes from their science class. It includes lists of terms the student knows and has learned, as well as short summaries of assessments the student completed. The student also proposes suggestions to the mayor about preventing future disasters and loss of life by staying informed, having evacuation plans, keeping emergency kits, and avoiding unnecessary risks. The student believes youth can help change the future by addressing disaster hazards.

 WHAT’S NEW
a. Earthquakes tend to be concentrated in narrow zones and they are not randomly distributed over the
earth’s surface.
b. The earthquakes are mainly distributed along the edges of the platonic plated. Some are located near the
edges of the continents, some in mid-continents, others are in oceans.
c. Earthquake epicenter is not randomly distributed on Earth. Most of it located in a narrow zone
connecting with each other. Some are located at the edge of the continent and some are situated on the
middle of the continent. Its distribution forms different patterns which resembles the shape of the
different plate around the world. In the middle of Russia and Australia, these countries have no
Earthquake since they are situated in the middle of the plate and far from the plate boundaries.
d. Because they are located from the earthquake epicenters
e. Volcanoes are not randomly distributed. Most of them are found along the edges of some continents.
f. Most of them are found on the edges of the northeast, most are in southeast Asia
g. Countries that are form these volcanoes, like in Africa, Europe, and northeast Asia.
h. Volcanoes and earthquakes are both produced from the divergent and convergent movement of the
tectonic plate boundaries. Most of the earthquake epicenters are located on the pacific plate on the ring
of volcanoes.
i. Mountain ranges are distributed on areas with earthquake and volcano epicenter but not all areas with
volcanoes and earthquake epicenter have mountain ranges.
j. The basis of the scientists are the mountain ranges, volcanoes, trenches, and rift valley.

 WHAT’S MORE
Re-circle the ring
a. Mount Pinatubo and Mount Fuji are familiar to me because I often heard it, Mount Pinatubo is
sometimes included in lessons from school.
b. Because most of the active volcanoes forms a circular ring-like chains in the pacific. That chain is called
the Pacific ring of fire.

d. This is due to its location along the ring of fire or typhoon belt—a large Pacific Ocean region where
many of Earth’s volcanic eruption and earthquakes occur.

 WHAT I CAN DO
#YouthInAction
#DisasterPreparedness
Shout-out to our beloved Mayor! As a student leader of Jacinto P. Elpa National High School, I have observed
the following disaster hazards in our community like fire disaster, flood, and earthquake.
May I respectfully suggest the following measures to prevent future and death:
 Stay informed.
 Have a plan for evacuation.
 Keep emergency kits on hand.
 Avoid unnecessary risks.
 Go to the safest area in your home.
We may still be young, but we must be persistent and careful. We are the future and hope to our parents. We
can also change the future that fix the disaster hazards of our world.
Discussion of Possible Outcomes
1. They keys to accomplishments are to make an organization for the rescuer if ever
there is a natural disaster and preparing or making a place that is surely safe for
everyone whenever there’s a natural disaster.
2. They safety of the people.
3. Yes, because it is to ensure their safety whenever disasters come.

PROVINCE ACTIVE VOLCANO INTERESTING FACTS
Tripoint boundary of Pinatubo The Pinatubo eruption on 15 June 1991 was
Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga the second largest volcanic eruption of the
20th century.
Batangas Taal the volcano is the second-most active
volcano in the Philippines, with 34 recorded
historical eruptions, all of which were
concentrated on Volcano Island, near the
middle of Taal Lake.
Negros Occidental; Negros Kanlaon Lugud crater is 250 m wide and 150-200 m
Oriental deep. The base of Kanlaon measures an area
of 30 km x 14 km.
Camiguin Island Hibok-Hibok It is one of the active volcanoes in the
country and part of the Pacific ring of fire.
Albay Mayon A popular tourist spot, it is renowned for its
"perfect cone" because of its symmetric
conical shape.

a. I will choose to stay near the Province of Albay to see the “Perfect-cone shape” volcano which is the
Mayon Volcano.
b. I will stay alert and attentive about my surrounding.
c. The volcano I will suggest is the Mayon Volcano for its unique characteristics.
