Issues in The Case & Solutions
Solution: - The process can be cut short to just a single day. It will create much less mental agony
to the participants.
2) Assessment tool which looks at developmental needs of level 3 managers for level 5
assignment
Solution: - Level 3 are district managers and level 5 are department heads. Assignment should be
based on Level 4 who are Division heads. Jumping from level 3 to 5 is not feasible.
3) At Lower Levels, the management may put aside or ignore negative recommendations & still
promote.
Solution: - If the management has the right to ignore recommendations then why conduct these
tests for lower management. Instead conduct tests which are more appropriate and suitable for
lower management.
Solution: - Scaling can be increased from 1 to 10 so that right scaling can be given to person. Scaling
between 1 to 5 leaves lot of ambiguity.
5) Paper Pencil Tests – Walt Jacksons performance was better still he scored 78 percent in
verbal while Donna scored 95 percentiles in verbal even though she wasn’t that good.
Solution: - The test are of less importance than other exercises . These are ambiguous in nature. Do
not judge the real capability and hence it should be removed from the process.
