Sample Lesson Exemplar

This 3-day mathematics lesson plan focuses on divisibility rules for 2, 5, and 10. Students will learn to identify if numbers are divisible by these factors through preliminary drills and a motivational poem. During activities, students will use the rules to determine divisibility and find common factors. To evaluate understanding, students will apply the rules to identify missing digits in numbers divisible by 2, 5, and 10.

numbers (M5NS-Ib-58.1)
A number is divisible by 2 if the ones digit of the number is 2, 4, 6,
8, or 0.
Key Concept A number is divisible by 5 if the ones digit ends in 0 and 5.
A number is divisible by 10 if the ones digit end in 0.

At the end of the lesson the pupils will be able to:

a. Identify if the given number is divisible by 2, 5 and 10.

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
b. use divisibility rules for 2, 5 and 10 to find the common factors of
numbers.

III. LEARNING PROCEDURES
A. Preliminary Activities
Drill on Identifying ODD and EVEN Numbers. (H5P Drag and Drop)
1. Drill
Identify if the number is an Odd or Even numbers by dragging
it to the correct position or group.
Review on Reading and Writing Whole Numbers (Matching Type)
2. Review
Match the number in words to the number in figure. Choose the
answer on the drop down opposite to it.
(H5P)
3. Motivation Read the poem entitle “Rules of Divisibility” and answer the questions that
follow.
B. Developmental Activities
1. Activity (Quiz)
If the ones digit of any number ends in 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 then the
number is divisible by 2. If the number ends in 0 and 5 then
the number is divisible by 5. If the number ends in 0 then
the number is divisible by 10. In this activity try to find out if
the number inside the star is divisible by 2, 5 or 10. Select
the word yellow if the number inside is divisible by two (2)
red if it is divisible by 5 and green if it is divisible by 2, 5 and
10.

(Forum)
How do we know if the number is divisible by 2, 5 and 10?
2. Analysis
What did you do in order identifying the divisibility rules of the number?
Knowing the divisibility rules of 2, 5 and 10 will help you find the factors
of a number just by examining its ones digit.
3. Abstraction
Watch the following interactive video and answer the questions in it.

(Quiz)
4. Application Recall the divisibility rules for 2, 5 and 10. Put a check mark
if the digit is divisible by the factors 2, 5 and 10.
Write the last digit or the ones digit in order for the number to become
divisible by 2, 5 and 10.
