Group 1 - A System of Quadratic Equations and Inequalities (1) - Dikompresi

This document provides an overview of quadratic equations and inequalities. It defines quadratic equations as polynomial equations of degree two that can be written in general form as ax2 + bx + c = 0. The values of a, b, and c determine the shape of the quadratic function. The document also discusses solving quadratic equations through factorization, using the quadratic formula, and completing the square. Finally, it defines quadratic inequalities and provides an example of solving an inequality involving a quadratic function.

Quadratic System of Equations
1. The Definition Quadratic Equation
A quadratic equation is a pounominal/polynomial
a) a > 0 then the parabola is up
equation that has order/degrees of two. Quadratic
equations are often called parabolic equations.

2. General Form
𝑎2 + 𝑏 2 + 𝑐 2 = 0

where a ≠ 0
a, b, c are the coefficients.

The values of a, b, c determine how the parabola of

the quadratic equation function in the coordinate
space (x, y).
b) b determine the apex of the parabola

;𝑏
Formula : x =
2𝑎

c) c determines the typot

x=0

Difference between ordinary, perfect and incomplete quadratic equations.

• Ordinary quadratic equations (Persamaan kuadrat biasa) => 𝑥 2 + 6𝑥 + 8 = 0

• Perfect quadratic equations (Persamaan kuadrat sempurna) => 𝑥 2 − 9 = 0
• Incomplete quadratic equations (Persamaan kuadrat tidak lengkap) => 𝑥 2 −3𝑥 = 0
b) Completing the Quadratic
A term that contains a variable only in the
3. Settlement segment term and the term that does not
contain a variable on another side.
a) Factorization
If 𝑎𝑥 2 + 𝑏𝑥 + 𝑐 = 0 can be factored, then the Examples :
roots of the press use the property if p, q 𝜖 R 𝑥 2 − 6𝑥 − 16 = 0 𝑥 −3=5
and applies pq = 0, then p = 0 or q = 0. 𝑥 2 − 6𝑥 = 16 𝑥 =5+3=8
Example: 𝑥 2 − 6𝑥 + 9 = 16 + 9
The formula (- if multiplied = a = ac, 𝑥 2 − 6𝑥 + 9 = 25 𝑥 − 3 = −5
- if added = b)
(𝑥 − 3)2 = 25 𝑥 = −5 + 3
𝑥 − 3 = ± 25 𝑥 = −2
𝑥 2 − 5𝑥 + 6 = 0
𝑥−3=±5
(x-2) (x-3) = 0
HP={8,-2}
x = - 2 or x = 3
x = 2, x = 3
HP = {2,3} Note : HP = The set completion (Himpunan penyelesaian)
Example: Find HP from : 𝑥 2 − 2𝑥 − 8 = 0

Answer: 2:6
c) With the formula 𝑥1 = =4
−𝑏 ± 𝑏 2 − 4𝑎𝑐 2
𝑥= 2;6
x = - b ± √2𝑎 2𝑎 𝑥2 = = −2

2 ± (−2) −4(1)(−8)
= HP = {4,-2}
−𝑏 ± 𝑏 2 − 4𝑎𝑐 2(1)
𝑥=
2𝑎 2 ± 4 + 32

Quadratic System of Inequality
b).
1. The Definition of quadratic inequalities
• For f(x) positive definite with any of g(x)
Quadratic Inequalities are mathematical
sentences that use the signs >, <, ≥, ≤, 𝑓 𝑥 𝑔 𝑥 > 0 → g(x) > 0
and ≠. 𝑓 𝑥 𝑔 𝑥 < 0 → g(x) < 0

a). 𝑓(𝑥)
• Positive > 0 → g(x) > 0
𝑔(𝑥)
The function f (x) is positive definite as if
f(x)> 0 for any side of x. 𝑓(𝑥)
• Negative < 0 → g(x) < 0
𝑔(𝑥)
Function (f (x)) is negative definite if f (x)
<0 for any value of x.
• For f (x) definite negative and any of g(x)

𝑓 𝑥 𝑔 𝑥 > 0 → g(x) < 0

𝑓 𝑥 𝑔 𝑥 < 0 → g(x) > 0

𝑓(𝑥)
> 0 → g(x) < 0
𝑔(𝑥)

𝑓(𝑥)
< 0 → g(x) > 0
𝑔(𝑥)
Example:
Find the HP of the quadratic inequality
2. Settlement
𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 5 < 3
a. Make one segment equal to zero (0)
b. Factorize Answer:
c. Determine the area (+/-)
d. Determine the area of settlement Step 1 : Convert the form 𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 5 < 3 to the
standard form 𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 2 < 0
- If asked > 0 or ≥0 then the area of
solution is (±) Step 2 : The zeroes of the form 𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 2 are
- If asked < 0 or ≤0 then the area of 𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 2 < 0
solution is (−) (𝑥 + 2) (𝑥 + 1) = 0
𝑥 + 2 = 0 or (𝑥 + 1) = 0
𝑥1 = −2 ; 𝑥2 = −1
Step 3 :

-3 - 1 ,5 0

-2 -1

For x = 0 → 𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 2 = 2 = (+)

1 2 3 2 3 9;18:8 1
For x = −1 →𝑥 + 3𝑥 + 2 = − +3 − +2= = − = (−)
2 2 2 4 4

For x = −3 → 𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 2 = −3 2
+ 3 −3 + 2 = 9 − 9 + 2 = 2 = (+)
Step 4 : The standard form is marked <, then the shaded area is in the negative
region

+++ --- +++

-2 -1

So, the HP of the inequality 𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 5 < 3 is the same as the HP of the

inequality 𝑥 2 + 3𝑥 + 2 < 0 and the HP of the inequality (x + 2) (x + 1) < 0 is
*𝑥│−2 < x < −1, x ∈ 𝑅+

Note : HP = The set completion (Himpunan penyelesaian)
