COVID-19: Unsafe World

Every morning we wake up, we see how the surroundings worked and changed. Even
when we sleep at night, we see how Covid-19 affects especially to the people. Many of us are
now worried to the current pandemic crisis, which is the Covid-19 that is happening today. So
what is Covid-19? Covid-19 is a disease caused by a new strain of coronavirus. Hence, the
Covid-19 is a crisis like no other the world has faced in recent decades in terms of its potential
economic and social impacts. It is currently affecting more than 200 countries and territories, the
virus has upended the lives of children and their families everywhere, placing a huge strain on
often already overburdened health and education system. It is very difficult for people to go
outside their houses. People nowadays are very problematic; its immediate impact on health
outcomes and tragically, on lives, it is now clear that the Covid-19 outbreak is likely to have a
long-lasting economic and social impacts of global proportions stemming from the direct and
indirect effects of illness, the preventive behaviors of people and the transmission control
policies of governments. How can politicians protect us? Is it possible to trust them in this crisis
even some of them are greed of money that causes corruption?
It is very hard for me to trust every people. In my personal experience, I observed biases
and prejudices against indigenous rights among actors on the political scene that results to an
obsession for data and statistics which can also filters into the political scene, and speeches
become filled with snippets of information that may be misconstrued, false, or doesn’t contains
the whole picture. In this crisis, it is very much better if we stay updated in order for us to
become ready and prepared. Despite of the different problems in the political scene, I am very
thankful to the government for giving us a financial help and ayuda that benefits us in everyday
living in this crisis. Furthermore, it is better if all people in our locality received a help from the
government. I, as a resident in a rural area, I experience having a limited access to health services
that could minimize our exposure to the disease. The governments’ capacity to quickly provide
income support to affected households in this area is limited. Existing safely net programs
largely target rural areas, and support for businesses probably will only benefit those in the
formal sector. As a result, we will experience a deterioration in living conditions and a deepening
poverty. Moreover, disruptions in food markets is very hard for every people. In the immediate
term, having a limited access to high quality and affordable health services can have devastating
impacts in the event of an illness in our family, while school closures can lead to a decline in
food intake among children of poor families who rely on school feeding programs. The impacts
of lost months of schooling, health check-ups, and nutrition can be particularly high for many
people, adversely affecting our human capital development and earning potential.
In addition, this crisis affected many people including myself. Staying at home everyday
really affect me socially, not being able to speak to friends and see people on a regular basis is
hard for me. We are force to stay home instead of going to school and spending time with
friends. Sometimes, we need to be outside with other people in order to release our energy and
socialize but in this case, we need to understand that it is for our safety because the virus has
affected us so much. Today, I also see food insecurities and social distancing; due to what is
happening in this world, people are very much afraid and cautious about food supply and
interactions with people.
I therefore conclude that the Covid-19 pandemic affects the political systems of multiple
countries like the Philippines, causing suspensions of legislative activities, isolation or deaths of
multiple politicians, and rescheduling of elections due to fears of spreading the virus. The Covid-
19 pandemic poses an extraordinary challenge to the world. Politicians is helping many people to
provide access to life-saving supplies including personal protective equipment for front line
health workers to protect children and families. Always remember that “Be strong and together,
be healthy!”
