Statement of the Problem

This study was undertaken to find out the Level of Social Awareness and to develop

the Social Awareness of Grade 8 Students in Bilogo Integrated National High School SY

2019-2020 engaged in Social Networking Sites.

Specifically, this study sought answers to the following Research Questions:

1. What is the profile of respondents in terms of:

1.1 Age

1.2 Sex

2. How frequent do students surf in Social Networking Sites in a day?

3. What Social Networking Sites do Grade 8 Students in BINHS mostly engaged in?

4. What positive and negative effects may be earned upon using Social Networking

Sites?

5. What project maybe proposed to develop Social Awareness of Grade 8 students

at BINHS?

Chapter VII

Result and Discussion

This chapter presents the data gathered regarding the level of Social Awareness of

the Grade 8 Students at BINHS and how Social Networking Sites affects them and

proceeds to the analysis and interpretation of said data.

The table 1 shows the age of Grade 8 respondents. It shows that 66.07 % or 37

out of 56 of the respondents are on the ages of 12-13 years old. 15 out of 56 students

or 26.79 % of them are on around 14-15 years old. While the respondents in the ages of

16-17 years old are 4 out of 56 respondents or 7.14% of them. However, there were no

respondents on the age of 18 and above.

As shown in the table 2 above, the table says that the randomly selected
respondents on survey questionnaires are Grade 8 Students which are 48.21% or 27
out of 56 respondents are Female and 51.79% or 29 out of 56 respondents are Male.

Table 3 presents the time allotted of respondents in using Social Networking Sites

in a day. Based on the data gathered, most of the Grade 8 students or 35.72% of them

used Social Networking Sites for almost 1-2 hours. And the worst is that some of the

students or 12 out 56 students were still using their Social Networking Sites for 8 hours

and above. With the same record in both 20-30 minutes and 3-4 hours of using it got

nine out of 56 respondents. There are 6 out of 56 students or 10.71% of them are using

their Social Networking Sites for 5-6 hours on a day.

As the fact continues that we are on a digital age today, students are truly

engaged in different Social Networking Sites. Table 4 shows that the respondents are

mostly engaged in Facebook and ranked as 1 with a verbal stability of Always and

weighted mean of 3.57. Messenger is ranked as 2 with weighted mean of 3.27 and

verbal stability of Always. With a verbal stability of Frequent and a weighted mean of

2.87, Youtube is ranked as number 3 as the students mostly engaged in. Tiktok become

popular in this year and got a 2.68 weighted mean, a Frequent verbal interpretation and

ranked as 4. Rank number 5 has gotten by Twitter with a verbal interpretation of

Frequent and weighted mean of 2.62.

Moreover, Computer Games, Instagram and Viber got a verbal stability of

Seldom. In Computer Games where students are entertained on have a weighted mean
of 2.21 and rank as 6. Instagram got 2.5 weighted mean and rank as 7. Lastly, Viber got

the lowest rank as 8 with a weighted mean of 1.96.
