Course Description: This course covers basic definitions and terminology, preliminary theory
of first and higher order linear ordinary differential equations (ODEs), method of solutions and
their applications, series solution, Laplace transform, and systems of first order linear differential
equations.
Prerequisite(s): Math2071.
Credit Hours: 3 hrs

Course Objectives:
At the completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. distinguish various classes of differential equations,


2. understand the underlying theory of linear ODEs,
3. understand various techniques of solving ODEs,
4. apply the techniques to solve ODEs problems,
5. apply the theory of power series to solve certain classes of differential equations,
6. derive the properties of Laplace transform,
7. apply Laplace transform to solve certain classes of ODE,
8. understand the interrelation between ODEs and linear algebra,
9. express physical problems in terms of differential equation.
