Proposal On Design and Implementation of Computerized Patient Diagnosis System

This document proposes the design and implementation of a computerized patient diagnosis system to address problems in manual record keeping. It outlines existing problems like misplaced records and duplication of efforts. The aim is to develop interactive software to help clinicians handle records efficiently. The objectives are to use a computerized system to store, retrieve, and access patient information like diagnostics and reduce time spent searching for files. The proposed system architecture involves users, administrators, patients, and a database to add/modify symptoms, illnesses, specialists and store diagnosis results.

PROJECT PROPOSAL

TOPIC: DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF COMPUTERIZED PATIENT

DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM

Patient diagnosis is to the process of attempting to determine or identifying a possible

disease or disorder to the opinion reached by this process. A diagnosis in the sense of
diagnostic procedure can be regarded as an attempt at classifying an individual’s health
condition into separate and distinct categories that allow medical decisions about
treatment to be made. Subsequently, a diagnostic opinion is often described in terms of a
disease or other conditions.

In the medical diagnostic system procedures, of the disease or conditions of interest, that
is, what caused the disease or condition and its origin is not entirely necessary. Such
elucidation can be useful to optimize treatment, further preventing recurrence of the
disease or condition in the future.

Patient Diagnosis Systems (PDS) are interactive computer programs designed to assist
healthcare professionals with record handling, information management and decision-
making skills. The clinician interacts with the software utilizing both the clinician’s
knowledge and the software to make a better analysis of the patient’s data than neither
humans nor software could make on their own.

Typically, the system makes suggestions for the clinician to look through and the he
picks useful information and removes erroneous suggestions.
Computer Aided Diagnostic systems were first developed in the 1950s and were based on
production rules and decision frames (Engelmore & Morgan, 1988). More complex
systems were later developed, including blackboard systems (Engelmore & Morgan,
1988) to extract a decision, and artificial neural networks (ANNs). Recently, a number of
CAD systems have been implemented to address a number of diagnostic problems.

EXISTING PROBLEM.

In every health organization, they encounter numerous problems such as:

 Misplacement of vital information (file record): An organization encounter

problem in the area of documentation which includes misplacement of vital
information or cases as a result of the services that are available or rendered when
it is needed duplications of effort due to inconsistency in activities and a lot of
time is taken in search of file or reported cases when it is needed for processing.

 A lot of time taken in carrying out manual checkup.

 Inevitable of human error.

Since it is actually this problem that is discovered that promoted for the design and
implementation of a computerized patient diagnosis model to enable the organization to
work more effectively

AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The aim of this research work is to design a patient diagnostic application, capable of
solving the already listed problems.

The objectives of the system are-

1. To develop modern interactive software that will aid clinicians in handling of

records.
2. To design a system that will be used in detecting problems that pose obstacle with
a view of modifying the operations and developing a new computerized system
that will be more efficient and accurate such as in the area of misplacement of vital
documents a computer will be used to record store and retrieval of large volume of
documents.
3. To enable easy retrieval and access to birth, death and patient diagnostics
information.
4. To reduce the duplications of efforts due to inconsistency in activities and time
that is taken in search of file when it is required for processing.
5. To setup efficient database system.

ADVANTAGE

1. Accounting of Patient Information in A computerized storage system. E.g.

database.
2. It ensures correctness during patient diagnosing.
3. The system ensure test is carried out within a minimum time frame for the patient
and provide results and solutions after diagnosing.
