Jamulus Into Zoom Using ASIO Link Pro PDF
Jamulus Into Zoom Using ASIO Link Pro PDF
This document describes how to route Jamulus output into a Zoom meeting.
This can by used, say, when you want the partipants in a Zoom meeting to hear the output from a Jamulus session
involving some of them.
My setup is two computers - a PC and a laptop – both running Windows 10. The PC is my Jamulus machine and the
laptop is for Zoom.
The Jamulus machine runs the Jamulus client, also Reaper and other things not relevant to this exercise. I have a
microphone and guitar plugged in via a Focusrite 2i2 interface.
The Zoom laptop runs Zoom (obviously) and, because we want the Jamulus mix going into Zoom, there is the
Jamulus client.
The piece of software that enables the connection between Jamulus and Zoom is ASIO Link Pro (ALP).
Disclaimer: I am new to Jamulus and ALP not in any way an expert. If things don't work exactly as described in
here, don't be surprised. You may need to adapt slightly to suit your own environment. ALP comes with detailed
documentation you can consult.
About ASIO Link Pro
ASIO Link Pro was developed by John Shield of Perth, Australia. The product was sold by John's company O Deus
Audio and retailed for about 40 USD. The latest version 1.6 was released in 2016.
Unfortunately, John died in 2017 and product licences became unavailable. An organisation called Give Academy
obtained the source code from John's nephew and developed a patcher program which effectively made ASIO Link
Pro free software.
"This ASIO driver extends your audio interface ASIO driver and adds windows audio with no additional latency. It
also allows you to use your ASIO driver from more than one application with the inbuilt multi-client support, and
you can even send ASIO audio over the network.
The driver is great value for money for people who need to monitor or record from windows audio or just want to
jam with their favourite tunes.
Features:

asiolinkpro.exe
AsioLinkProToolPatcher.zip
(1) Run asiolinkpro.exe to install ASIO Link Pro (ignore the option to install 16 WDM devices)
(2) Unzip AsioLinkProToolPatcher.zip and run ASIO Link Pro Patcher.exe to patch the executable. This
effectively registers the product.
The first time, you will get a pop-up (from ALP) asking which driver you want to use – in my case ASIO4ALL. If you
only have one driver, it will be selected automatically.
Before you connect to the Jamulus server, the ALP and Jamulus windows looks like this:
If you look in Windows sound setting you will see the default devices are now Speakers 01 and Mix 01.
Connect to the Jamulus server.
Notice the Jamulus output appears on ASIO DRIVER OUT. If you run any application that uses a microphone (eg.
Sound Settings or Audacity) you will see activity on ASIOVADPRO MIX OUT indicating the Jamulus audio is available
to the application. You could record the Jamulus output.
Running Zoom
Start Zoom and join the Zoom meeting with audio and video enabled.
You may get messages from Zoom indicating problems with audio devices, I found these can usually be resolved by
running through the speaker and microphone checks. Yiu want Speakers 01 and Mix 01 as your Speaker and
Microphone devices.
With these settings, audio from Jamulus will go into Zoom's microphone channel. When you unmute yourself in
Zoom all users will hear the Jamulus mix.
Also, audio from Zoom will be routed into Jamulus – this is why it is important to make sure Zoom users are muted
when listening to a Jamulus feed. You could also try disconnecting this route inside ALP.
