Unit Design

Students will analyze different genres of music and compare music from different time periods and cultures over 5 lessons. In the first lesson, students will listen to different genres of music and state which they like most. In the second lesson, students will discuss similarities and differences between music from around the world and their own cultures. The third lesson will have students use instruments and sheet music to compose a short song. In the fourth lesson, students will compare music from the 1700s to present in a Venn diagram. Finally, the fifth lesson will review music through the decades with sheet music and have students present on their favorite songs.
