I. OBJECTIVES
A. CONTENT STANDARD The learner demonstrates understanding of: African literature as a means
of exploring forces that human beings contend with; various reading styles
vis – à-vis purposes of reading; prosodic features that serve as carriers of
meaning; ways by which information may be organized, related, and
delivered orally; and parallel structures and cohesive devices in presenting
information.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD The learner transfers learning by composing and delivering an informative
speech based on a specific topic of interest keeping in mind the proper and
effective use of parallel structures and cohesive devices and appropriate
prosodic features, stance, and behavior.

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing the previous lesson or The students will classify some words based on the number of their
presenting the new lesson syllables and will read the words.

Follow-Up Questions
● What have you noticed when you read the words with one syllable
and words with two to five syllables?
● Which words have an emphasis or force on the first syllable?
second syllable? third syllable? fourth syllable? (words will be
written on the board)

B. Establishing a purpose for the The students will read homographs and identify the difference in the manner

C. Presenting examples/instances of The students will watch the video clip, “Same Verbs + Noun + Syllable

D. Discussing new concepts and The teacher will ask the students to enumerate the homographs mentioned
practicing new skills #1 in the video and give the meaning of each word.

practicing new skills #2 be asked to read the sentences with proper stress especially on the
homographs. After reading, they will be asked to identify if the homograph in
each sentence is a noun or verb and to define it based on how they think it
was used in the sentence. Answers will be revealed once the student says
that his answer is final.
F. Developing Mastery Group Game
The students will be grouped into four. Each group will be asked to make a
sentence out of the word that will be given by the teacher. Each group will
use the word as a noun and as a verb and must read them with proper
stress. The group which gets the most number of correct answers will win
the game.
