The main pump is a piston pump. The plunger cylinder (14) is contained in the main pump housing (1). The
plunger cylinder (14) contains nine pistons (18). Each piston (18) pushes the oil delivered by the pump to
flow through the pump outlet (3).
The oil from the hydraulic oil tank flows into the main pump through the inlet (6).
The pilot pump (2) is directly connected to the main pump (5).
The shaft (11) of the main pump is directly connected to the engine flywheel. The shaft (11) is also
connected to the plunger cylinder (14) through a spline. The plunger cylinder (14) has nine pistons
(18). The head of each piston (18) can rotate on the piston shoe (10). The piston shoe (10) is fixed on the
sliding plate (13) through the retaining ring (9).
When the shaft (11) is driven by the engine, the plunger cylinder (14) is connected to the valve plate
(16). This allows the piston (18) to rotate on the sliding plate (13). The sliding plate (13) is fixed on the
swash plate (17).
The oil from the hydraulic oil tank flows into the main pump through the inlet (6). The oil flows through the
inlet oil passage of the valve plate (16). Then the oil flows into the hole of the plunger cylinder (14). As the
plunger cylinder (14) rotates, the piston (18) moves in or the piston (18) moves out of the hole of the
plunger cylinder (14). When the piston (18) moves out of the hole of the plunger cylinder (14), the oil is
sucked into the hole of the plunger cylinder (14) behind the piston. When the piston moves into the plunger
cylinder bore, the oil is pushed in front of the piston (18). The oil pushed before each piston alternately
flows through the oil passages of the valve plate (16). While the main pump oil is flowing, the piston (18)
pushes the oil flow through the outlet (3). The oil flows through port (3) to the main control valve.
The stroke length of each piston (18) varies depending on the angle of the swash plate (17). This change in
displacement can adjust the output flow of the pump.
