SELF ASSESSMENT

Introduction

After understanding the different types of exercises and their importance in


one’s health, it’s now time for you to engage in moderate to vigorous physical
activities. In this module you will be given different suggested physical activities
that you can use in your own program of physical activities.
The intensity of exercise or physical activity depends on the amount of
energy and efforts that a person exerted. Moderate to Vigorous physical activities
are great contributor to your good health and will keep you physically fit.

Direction

The activities to be given below may vary , these will depend on the
availability of equipment and most importantly on your ability and interest.

Competency

Engages in Moderate to Vigorous physical activities (MVPAs) for at least


60 minutes most days of the week in a variety of setting s in-and out-of

Activity 3: STUDY CLOSELY

The WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION’S GLOBAL STRATEGY ON DIET ,


PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND HEALTH classifies dfifferent physical activities into
moderate and vigorous physical activities.
The table shows the different physical activities that you can engage in, It
is clear that Moderate Physical Activity requires moderate amount of effort hence
requiring a person to use moderate amount of energy and effort that accelerates
the heart rate, while the Vigorous Physical Activity requires large amount of
energy and effort and causes rapid breathing and a substantial increase in heart
rate. These activities may vary depending on your interest and ability.

Try to think of different physical activities comparable to the samples given


in the table.

Application

Activity 4: LET’S DO IT

Remember that 150- minute of moderate exercise or 75 -minute exercise most


days of the week is a very good habit As you understand the concept of
Moderate and Vigorous Physical Activities it is now time to engage in different
Physical Activity for at least 60 minutes most days of the week. You can do this
in- and out- of school.

Check the Physical Activities that you can possibly perform at your most
convenient time of the day. You may add other physical activities that you are
interested in.
