This document provides a guide for learning about sequence connectors in English. It begins by identifying the training program, code, phase of the project, activity, and competence. It then presents sequence connectors and their functions for joining words, sentences, and paragraphs to organize ideas in a logical sequence. Examples are provided of different connectors like "and", "or", "but", "because", and those indicating sequence such as "first", "then", "later", "afterwards", "finally". Learners then complete exercises practicing the use of these connectors in reading, listening, and writing activities to demonstrate their understanding.

2. PRESENTACIÓN

If you want or need to communicate, you have to organize your ideas; there are certain elements that help
us explain our thoughts more clearly and in a logical sequence, those elements are called sequence
connectors. The correct usage of these elements will allow you to organize the information you have, in a
better way. Thus, you are going to learn how to use linking words like: first, then, when, while, and, after
that, later, afterwards, finally.

SEQUENCE CONNECTORS

The main function of connectors in English grammar is to join words or sentences of what you want to
express. The correct usage of connectors gives coherence to what you write or express orally. In addition to
joining words, sentences or paragraphs, the sequence connectors are very helpful to organize your ideas
when you want to tell someone what happened at a particular time in a logical sequence.

Each connector has a specific function within a text, to either add some information, express consequence,
or introduce a new idea, etc. The correct use of connectors allows the listener to interpret the speaker's
message in a better way.

2. Evidencia de desempeño

In this topic you are working with connectors of

sequence. Remember that they are those words
which link our ideas so that our stories have
coherence, and so people can understand them
easier.

 In this exercise, imagine you work for a touristic magazine and your job is to write a short review
about a nice place to visit. You have to say that you went to that place and you need to explain
everything you did, so that people get that you really had a good time. Include a picture of the
place in order to make the activity more realistic and use connectors of sequence. You also have
to include the following information:

• Where did you go?

• Where did you stay?
• How did you travel?
• How long did you stay?
• What did you do as soon as you got there?
• What did you most like about it?
• What did you dislike about the trip?
• Where did you eat?
• What did you eat? How was it?
• How much did you spend in all the trip?
• Connectors: while, when, first, next, finally, At first, later, when, in the end…

Your text should be between 250-300 words.

Please, check the following example:

Chicago, the Windy City.

Chicago is one of the most cosmopolitan and interesting cities in USA. It is the
third biggest city in America and it has one of the most privilege views along the
city: Lake Michigan. In a week you can do a lot of activities here, especially in
summer. When I arrived, it was about to start the Taste of Chicago Fest, so that
was the first main event to attend. It was amazing. You could start the day eating
and you end it up eating as well, as I did. Later, you can wander around the financial district or the art
district. Both are full of architectural jewels and interesting places…

Hawaii, the amazing paradise

Hawaii is a unique place on Earth, with the most active volcanoes in the world, the only royal palace in
America, and the welcoming aloha spirit. Explore the sparkling ocean, golden sands, and emerald valleys;
lose yourself in the spiritual beauty of the hula and discover the warmth of the Hawaiian people, beautifully
complemented by the perfect temperatures of the islands. When I left the airport, the Hawaii International
Film Festival was starting, it was amazing, I watched many very good movies after I went to look for a hotel
near Lahaina beach, then I went to have lunch very close to the hotel and there I asked for salmon but I did
not know I was allergic to it and I had to go to a hospital and I stayed there for two days, that was the worst
part of the trip, I finally went to the beach and met some very friendly locals, they took me to dance at the
most famous disco, that was amazing, it was what I liked the most.
I spent around 3 and a half million but I did not care because it was the coolest week of my life in Hawaii, I
hope to be back soon.
I invite you to explore the Aloha Islands for your own heavenly Hawaii experiences. Aloha.
