Course Introduction

Objective of this course is to make the students understand how the new corporate, social and
government cultures are evolving around e-Business. Key concepts like CRM, supply chain
management, procurement, marketing and better management over all needs to be looked at in
the light of the “e paradigm”. Students will realize that this course is more about designing
strategies using e-approach vs. methodologies learnt in the MIS course. Students should be able
to understand how to develop an e-business strategy keeping in mind the social and legal
environment. The course will also talk about managing change since e-business is generally a
very disruptive strategy as it commonly employs business process re-engineering. Course will
also cover the underlying IT without which eBusiness cannot exist.

The course includes the mechanism of applying management information system in recent
business fields such as e-business, e-government, management and measurement of e-business
enterprises, and it’s important in the new business world in a competitive environment. This is
achieved via a “hands on” detailed project.

Course Objectives:

 Understanding the word “e”, the pros and cons of the digital age.
 Understanding the relationship between management information systems and
eBusiness.
 Building on the concepts to develop eBusiness strategies and successfully implementing
them to realize opportunities or to solve problems.
 Understanding performance measurements.
