CS-100 Fundamentals Of ICT

Semester Project Guidelines

Project Details:
The aim of the semester project for this course is to expose you to interesting
ICT topics and beneficial tools that can help you increase your knowledge &
productivity. Each project will be undertaken by a group of 1 - 3 students. For
evaluation, each group member would have to explain the part of the project
he/she was responsible for, and would be marked separately.

A small list of project ideas is included in this document. You can choose from
these topics or come up with your own topic. You can also select any ICT
related interesting tool/software and provide a demo of that tool as your
presentation. Once you finalize your topic, you will be required to conduct a
brief research/survey regarding your selected topic/tool. Towards the end of
the project deadline you will be expected to deliver your findings through a
presentation and a project report.

problems.
24. Security problems in communication systems and some approaches to solve
these problems.

26. How can ICT be used for poverty alleviation (in under-developed
countries)?
27. How can ICT be used for development (in the field of medicine)?
28.How can ICT be used for development (in the field of education)?
29.How can ICT be used for development (in the field of agriculture)?

Project Deliverables:

There are three deliverables for each project: a project abstract, a project
report and a project presentation (using Microsoft Powerpoint or similar
software). All these three deliverables must be submitted by the announced
final submission date.
Tentative Project Dates:
*Subject to change if academic schedule changes

a. Topic & Abstract submission: By Saturday, 27 December, 2020. Only


one group member needs to submit the response on shared form.

b. Submission of Project Report: Submission on LMS portal: latest by 15th


January, 2020. One submission per group.
[Please submit early ; late submissions will not be entertained at all.]

c. Project Presentations: 20 -22 January 2020 (In regular classes and labs
as per schedule in the Last/Second Last week of Semester).

Project Abstract Format


The abstract document must contain the following sections:
1) Topic Name
2) List of Group Member Names
3) Project Abstract (5-10 lines) providing an overview of your topic & the content
that you plan to cover in your presentation.

Project Report Format


The report should have a formal writing style, and must contain the
following sections:
1) Title Page
2) Table of Contents
3) Abstract
4) Introduction
5) Objectives of this Project (describe what you wanted to achieve through this
project).
6) Main Section (where you discuss your findings and how you've managed to
achieve the objectives that you had set yourself).
7) Applications of the Project (discuss all applications [as much as possible] of
your project).
8) Conclusions (summarize your project, your main learnings, and discuss if
the project objectives have been achieved).

Project Presentations:
Each group will have 5-7 minutes for the presentation. The presentations
should be prepared in accordance with the allocated presentation time
(5-7 minutes).
The presentations shall have the basic headings of the report and should
highlight the major aspects considered for the selected technology.
Additional headings can be included as well.
