Argumentative Essay Industrial Revolution 4.0
Argumentative Essay Industrial Revolution 4.0
In this modern era, I, as an engineering student, often hear the term Industrial Revolution
4.0. Generally, Industrial Revolution 4.0 is a name given to the current trend in the industry
world Which combines cyber technology and automation technology. Industrial Revolution
4.0 include the Internet of things (IoT), cloud computing, cyber-physical system, and
cognitive computing. This development has changed human life, starting from the aspects of
the economy, employment, transportation, and others. So, do you agree with this issue?
The 4.0 Industrial Revolution certainly has a positive and negative impact on society.
The positive impact of the Industrial 4.0 revolution is the internet. In this modern era, almost
all computers or smartphones are connected to the internet. This is confirmed by the IQS
company (iqs.com). By connecting gadgets to the internet, this can facilitate long distance
society communication to be more efficient and efficient. This is also evidenced by the many
users of instant messaging applications such as Whatsapp, LINE, and others.
The positive impact of the industrial revolution 4.0 is not only about the internet, but also
has an impact on people's economic well-being. The Industrial Revolution can increase
people's purchasing ability, especially technological devices. If we observe, the price of
smartphones from year to year is getting cheaper but the specifications are increasing. Cheap
smartphones can be used for micro-scale businesses and certainly can improve the quality of
the personal economy. Broadly speaking, this was also explained in a journal written by
Raymond R. Tjandra Winata as director of Dexa Group, Tangerang.
Behind the advantages of the 4.0 industrial revolution, there are certainly challenges
facing the industrial revolution 4.0. The biggest challenge is employment. As we know that in
the industrial revolution 4.0 companies prefer to use robots as employees rather than humans
to reduce expenses. For example: e-toll payment. That certainly can reduce employment. So
that many people, especially workers, lose their regular income. Prof. Bambang
Brodjonegoro, S.E., M.UP., Ph.D. as the development planning minister also argued that in
the industrial revolution 4.0, Indonesia would have 50 million job opportunities. In addition,
Jobs Lost, Jobs Gained: Workforce Transitions in a Time of Automation states that in 2030 as
many as 400 million to 800 million people must find new jobs.
The development of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 has many benefits, especially in the
field of communication and public purchasing ability. Industry 4.0 can facilitate long-
distance communication with each other quickly and efficiently. In addition, Industry 4.0 can
increase people's purchasing capability, especially computers and smartphones, because it is
getting cheaper every year. Behind all that, there is one challenge, namely the reduction of
jobs because it is replaced by robots.
