4. IMPLEMENTATION

1. Frontend Languages: HTML, CSS, Bootstrap(Framework)

2. Backend Language: SQL,PHP
3. Database: MySQL
4. IDE: Visual Studio Code
5. Server: Xampp Server

4.1 TOOLS

MySQL: MySQL is the most popular Open Source Relational SQL Database Management
System. MySQL is one of the best RDBMS being used for developing various web-based
software applications. MySQL is developed, marketed and supported by MySQL AB, which
is a Swedish company. This tutorial will give you a quick start to MySQL and make you
comfortable with MySQL programming.

Visual Studio Code: Visual Studio Code is a source-code editor developed by Microsoft for
Windows, Linux and macOS. It includes support for debugging, embedded Git control and
GitHub, syntax highlighting, intelligent code completion, snippets, and code refactoring.

Xampp: Xampp is a free and open source cross-platform web server solution stack package
developed by Apache Friends, consisting mainly of the Apache HTTP
Server, MariaDB database, and interpreters for scripts written in
the PHP and Perl programming languages. XAMPP stands for Cross-Platform (X), Apache
(A), MariaDB (M), PHP (P) and Perl (P). It is a simple, lightweight Apache distribution that
makes it extremely easy for developers to create a local web server for testing and deployment
purposes. Everything needed to set up a web server – server application (Apache), database
(MariaDB), and scripting language (PHP) – is included in an extractable file.

5. Results and Outputs

The following figures demonstrate the working of the system. These also represents the results
and outputs by the system.

Fig: 5.1 Database Tables

Fig: 5.1 Shows all the tables of medicine database which has seven tables namely admin,
customers, manufacturer, medicines, orders, order_items, users. These tables are created in
phpMyAdmin. phpMyAdmin is a free and open source administration tool for MySQL and
MariaDB. As a portable web application written primarily in PHP, it has become one of the
most popular MySQL administration tools, especially for web hosting services. To open the
phpMyAdmin one has to start the Xampp server’s MySQL module, followed by entering the
localhost URL in the web browser. Before creation of all the tables, one has to create the
database. In our system, we have medicine database. Once database is created, then we can
create the tables.

6
Fig: 5.2 Index Page

Fig: 5.2 Represents the home page of the system. It acts as the entry point for buying medicines.
Users have plenty of options like sign up, login and contact. When the user enter the URL of
the website in web browser, it brings him/her to this page. In our system privacy of the
medicines are protected. If the user does not hold account in this website, he/she needs to sign
up for the first time. Whenever user clicks on the sign up button, it brings him/her to the signup
page. If the user already has the account in the system, he/she can login into account by clicking
on login button. Whenever user clicks on the login button, it brings him/her to login page then
enter the email and password. If the credentials match with the existing database then user will
be taken into the session. Otherwise message will be printed as wrong credentials and redirect
back to the login page.

CONCLUSION

The system has been developed with much care and free of errors and at the same time it is
efficient and less time consuming. The purpose of this project was to develop a web application
for purchasing medicines from a online website.

This project helped us in gaining valuable information and practical knowledge on several
topics like designing web pages using HTML & CSS, usage of responsive templates and
management of database using MySQL. The entire system is secured. Also, the project helped
us understanding about the development phases of a project and software development life
cycle. We learned how to test different features of a project.

This project has given us great satisfaction in having designed a web application which can be
implemented for selling various kinds of medicines by simple modifications.
