Communications
Communication is the process of sending and receiving messages through verbal and/or nonverbal means –
speech (oral communication), writing (written communication), signs, signals and behavior. Adjectives: communicative and
communicational.
Alternatively, communication has been defined as “a transactional, symbolic process of mutual influence occurring between
or more individuals that alters their affective, cognitive, or behavioral states”.
Communications (in the plural) refers to ways of sending information to people through technology.
“All communication involves faith“, says literary theorist Terry Eagleton.” Indeed, some linguist holds that the potential
obstacles to acts of verbal understanding are so many and diverse that it is a minor miracle that they take place at all”.
