1.
Bowmore 12 year old : Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Some lovely smokiness, but the fruity elements really sing here:
pineapple, peach and mango all dancing with the smoke that surrounds them. Great
balance.
Compare with
Lagavulin
2.
Balvenie : Speyside Single Malt
Cherries and raspberries combine with sponge cake, spicy cinnamon and black pepper.
Cramel, vanilla and dried fruit run riot over the taste buds but really bring the
dram to life.
Oak wood, cinnamon and a hint of cloves add a lovely depth,
with a slightly aromatic touch.
More tropical fruits, with brown sugar, spices and malted grains add a bit
of variation and allow the oak to really shine against them
3.
Benriach : Speyside Single Malt
Floral and spicy, with clean, bright fruit: green apples, pears, honeysuckle. T
heres some spiciness in there, too a little black pepper, a hint of clove and
a touch of crme brle.
Compare with
Glenlivet
4.
Talisker : Island Single Malt Scotch
A rich dried-fruit sweetness with clouds of smoke and strong barley-malt flavours,
warming and intense. At the back of the mouth is an explosion of pepper.
5.
Highland Park: : Island Single Malt Scotch
Starts off with syrup sweetness, quickly moving on to sour and creamy wood,
with more tropical chews, pineapple and smoked orange rind.
6.
Aberfeldy : Highland Single Malt Scotch
Lovely smooth texture, with rich honeyed fruit freshened up with crisp apple notes.

A little spice lightens the grip of the peat and vanilla
bunnahabhain

Syrupy in texture with vanilla and a light smokiness, more woody than peaty.
