SPECIFICATIONS FOR TANDEM CLASS 8 WATER TRUCKS
(WITH 4,000 GALLON WATER TANK AND INSTALLATION)
Identification of the Unit Being Proposed
The bidder shall identify the unit by manufacturer, model, series and year of manufacture, so as to enable
identification by the County in the manufacturer's sales literature on the proposed unit. The bidder shall submit
complete descriptive literature showing that the proposed unit is the manufacturer's recent model, including
latest engineering improvements, which have been, or shall imminently be, regularly advertised and sold on
the open market. The description of the unit shall also be sufficient to assure the County that specifications will
be met without improvising, modifying, or augmenting a basically standard unit beyond those variations
contained in the manufacturer's regularly advertised specifications. New not previously titled, zero mileage
Trucks.
Operating and Service Manuals and Parts Lists
One (1) operator manual shall be included with the unit upon delivery. In addition, there shall be a total of one
(1) service, shop, or maintenance manual, and one (1) parts manual or available w/CD or online.
Manufacturer’s Warranty and Service Policy
The manufacturer's standard warranty or service policy is to apply to the unit. Such warranty or service policy
is to be recognized at any authorized/franchised unit dealer, representing manufacturer of proposed unit
throughout the State of Colorado and within a radius of 100 miles from the delivery point. The applicable
warranty or service policy shall not be contingent upon obtaining routine service lubrication and servicing of the
unit from a factory-authorized agency. It shall be the responsibility of the bidder to make available all
replacement parts, components, and materials found to be defective under the terms of the warranty, and
without cost (including labor cost) to Montrose County. The unit shall be accompanied upon delivery by the unit
manufacturer's properly executed warranty or service policy. Unit shall be warranted against manufacturing
defects for not less than twelve (12) months from date of delivery and shall include other warranty
requirements as may be specified.

WATER TANK SPECIFICATIONS
Specifications for 4,000-Gallon Water Tank and Installation
Capacity: 4,000 gallons (96 inches wide x 70 inches high x 180 inches long).
Material/Baffles: Shell, ends and baffles constructed of 3/16-inch thick ASTM A-36 steel. Shape modified
low profile ellipse with flat sides. Ends rolled and fitted with 6-inch offset welded 360
degrees on both sides. Two (2) evenly spaced with an 18-inch crawl hole, rolled, fitted
and welded with 6-inch offset. Full belly plate on bottom of tank constructed of at least
3/16-inch thick steel mounted between the tank shell and the tank skids no less than 36-
inch in width.
Skids: Two (2) heavy duty 3/16-inch thick modified U shaped skids. Vulcanized rubber wear
pads shall be mounted on the tank rails.
Sight Gauge: Clear tube mounted on front and rear of tank right side.
Manhole: 25-inch diameter manhole with hinged non sealing lid and anti-slosh ring.
Ladder: Constructed from ¾-inch black pipe located on rear of tank. OSHA approved.
Fenders: Fenders attached to tank, constructed of at least 12 gauge steel. Mud flaps mounted rear.
Hose storage mounted in fenders (see photo).
Mounting: Installed with skid to frame mounting. Four (4) spring loaded mounts shall be furnished
for installation (as shown in photo).
Lights: Lights and reflectors must meet DOT requirements, wires encased in rubber.
Paint: Sandblast tank exterior. Prime and paint fleet white epoxy.
Hydraulics: Hydraulic drive will be Commercial 30 series motor. Hydraulic lines shall run through
the tank for fluid cooling. Hydraulic motor attached to water
pump with all hydraulic lines pre-plumbed at rear of tank. Hydraulic check valve and
filter plumbed at rear of tank for easy service. Plus installation of PTO and pump to run
above pump motor.

Water Pump: Monarch MIH40 heavy duty centrifugal 4 x 4 self-prime water pump with cast iron
housing and ceramic mechanical seal, stainless steel drive shaft mounted at rear of tank.
Minimum 550 gpm @ 55 psi.
Gravity Drop Bar: Air actuated gravity tube at bottom end center of tank as close to the rear as possible. 96-
inches x 4-inches with vitriolic caps and quick release clamps at each end.
Spray System: Individual cab mounted controls to actuate each of the six (6) UTEAV9030 normally
open air operated spray heads. Two (2) valves with adjustable volume and pattern nozzles
mounted on front spray bar. Two (2) valves with adjustable volume and pattern nozzles
mounted on rear spray bar. Two (2) valves with adjustable volume and pattern nozzles
mounted on right and left side of tank. One (1) cab mount control to actuate drop bar.
Suction fill: Manual 4-inch butterfly valve mounted between pump and suction pick-up hose. Manual
4-inch butterfly valve mounted between pump and tank on draft line. Manual 4-inch
butterfly valve mounted between pump and tank for return line. Furnish a 4-inch suction
hose that is 18-feet long with coupled cam lock & strainer.
Lifting Eyes Tank is to have a minimum of four (4) lifting eyes. Two (2) eyes on the front and two (2)
eyes on the rear, capable of lifting the weight of the tank when it is empty without
causing any deformation in the tank.
Spray Bar The pressure spray bar will have two (2) outlets; one (1) outlet is to be 1-inch standard
pipe thread with a 1-inch ball valve; and one (1) outlet is to be 1½-inch standard pipe
thread with 1½-inch ball valve.
Gravity Tank will have one (1) gravity displacement 1½-inch standard pipe thread outlet in.
Displacement Pipe Located at the rear of the tank. The 1½-inch pipe shall have a 1½-inch ball valve
installed on it.
Warranty Minimum warranty shall be 5 years for parts and labor on the tank; and 1 year for parts
and labor on components.
