SHADECLOTH RANGE

Synthesis Commercial 95.

Take the stress out
of tension structures with
knitted shadecloth
Synthesis Commercial 95™ knitted shadecloth is especially
designed for tension structures and shade awnings of all
shapes and sizes. It’s one of the world’s most widely used
knitted shadecloths for these types of architectural shading
applications.

Its ability to block the majority of the sun’s direct UV rays

provides a safe, cost effective sun protection solution for
small and large area applications.

Synthesis Commercial 95 has been in use for over 15 years

across Australia—one of the world’s harshest environments.
The range offers the ultimate combination of maximum sun
protection, strength and durability guaranteeing ten years
of trouble-free long-life performance in extreme weather
conditions. Synthesis Commercial 95 can easily handle below
freezing temperatures to blistering heat in outback Australia.

Apart from the inherent strength of the knitted construction,

the knitted fabric also allows Synthesis Commercial 95 to
breathe, which means air can circulate through the fabric
to create a substantially cooler environment beneath.
Synthesis Commercial 95 won’t mould or mildew.
And because of its unique lock-stitch construction with a
combination of tape and monofilament yarn, it is
dimensionally stable and is fray and tear resistant. To further
ensure optimum stability and shape retention, all Synthesis
Commercial 95 fabric undergoes heat stentering to virtually
eliminate any chance of shrinkage once installed.

Almost every day, exciting new applications are being

discovered for Synthesis Commercial 95 to provide high
level sun protection, particularly in places where people
gather, like school playgrounds, childcare centres, sports
arenas, car parks, public forecourts, plazas and building
entries to name a few.

Synthesis Commercial 95 is available in a range of

contemporary colours, each carefully selected to compliment
and enhance various architectural trends. And because
Synthesis Commercial 95 is UV stabilised, the fabric can
withstand the harsh rays of the sun year after year.

UV Protection – Synthesis Commercial 95 has been

specifically designed and constructed to provide UV block
ranging from 91% to 96% creating safer outdoor
environments which can be utilised for longer periods.

Knitted Lock-Stitch Construction – The combination of

monofilament yarn and tape produces dimensionally stable
fabric that offers high levels of tear and fray resistance.

Heat Set – Synthesis Commercial 95 undergoes an advanced

stentering process that heat sets the fabric to deliver a
pre-shrunk, highly stable material of great consistency.

Elastic Material Properties Shadecloth Range Rev2 05/05

Introduction
The elastic material properties of a fabric is important piece of information for designers of fabric
structures. Knowledge of the properties allows the un-stretched dimensions of the fabric to be
calculated from the desired stretched dimensions. This information is will be used when cutting out
fabric panels for the structure. In addition, the material properties can be used to calculate the stresses
and deflections from applied loads, which is an essential part of the safe design of the structure.

Descriptive terms
Ex.t relates length extensions to length tensions
Ey.t relates width extensions to width tensions
VXY indicates the extent to which the length contracts when the width is loaded
