RESOLUTION NO. 161-2020

A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE LOCAL CLIMATE CHANGE ACTION PLAN OF


THE MUNICIPALITY OF PLARIDEL, PROVINCE OF MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL FOR
THE OPERATIONAL YEAR 2021

WHEREAS, climate change is scientifically recognized as an alarming global


problem. It is attributed directly to global warming caused by human activities like
burning of fossil fuels such as oil and coal used by industrialization activities of countries
worldwide. These human activities include worldwide deforestation, increasing industrial
activity, motor vehicle emission, waste management practices and intensive agriculture,
specifically, the slash and burn farming method;

WHEREAS, one of the priority programs of the present administration to provide


a strong linkage between the Local Government Unit with various stakeholders that
would foster partnership geared to bring out heart-driven services to citizenry in times
of distress and issues on climate change;

WHEREAS, amidst all the developments which include among others


infrastructure, economic and agriculture, the local government is still focused to achieve
an environment friendly and habitable municipality;

WHEREAS, aside from the Solid Waste Management Plan, the local government
wants to establish a Local Climate Change Action Plan that would serve as guide in the
implementation of environment programs down to the barangay level;

WHEREAS, the Municipal Planning and Development Office and the Local
Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office being the lead departments, conducted an

initial identification of climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives to enable the
municipality to adjust to the impacts of climate change such as the increasing
temperature throughout the year, the heavier rains causing floods during the wet
seasons and the typhoons caused by heavy rains in addition to typhoons accompanied
by strong winds;

WHEREAS, the implementation of the Local Climate Change Action Plan needs
specific measures and instrument. Plan implementation includes the establishment of
detailed work systems, and institutional mechanisms that are responsive to the goals
and objectives of the LCCP and the information of partnerships and cooperation
arrangement among stakeholders;

WHEREAS, the Local Government Unit of Plaridel recognizes the importance of


plan implementation and policy enforcement in realizing targets, achieving goals and
objectives for the realization of a climate- adaptive and resilient community;

NOW THEREFORE, on motion of SB Member Lucita M. Aviles, duly seconded by


SB Member Algelyn B. Paradiang, the Sangguniang Bayan Members –

RESOLVED, AS IT HEREBY RESOLVES, TO ADOPT THE LOCAL CLIMATE


CHANGE ACTION PLAN OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF PLARIDEL, PROVINCE OF
MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL FOR THE OPERATIONAL YEAR 2021

RESOLVED FINALLY, that a copy of this resolution be furnished to the Office


of the Municipal Mayor, and other offices, departments and agencies concerned for
their information, guidance and reference.

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED by the 29th Sangguniang Bayan of Plaridel on its


36th Regular Session for CY 2020 held on November 6, 2020.
