Mode of packing: Wooden crate

The crate must be moved and stored in vertical position

Transporting the Crate:

Using a fork lift truck: lift up the crate under the stiffened section placed at the
middle of the crate. The fork lift forks must not be shorter than the width of crate.
(Refer to Fig 1)

Using a crane: Lifting slings must be threaded through the middle of the crate,
under the hose and around the crate for lifting.
Use of wire-ropes or chains is forbidden. (Refer to Fig 2)

Unpacking:

- The crate must be laid horizontally

- The tie bars / threaded studs located across the middle of the crate must be
unscrewed and removed. This applies to crates with sizes of 2370 x 2300,
2870 x 2800 and 3270 x 3200 mm

- The side of the crate must be removed

- The fastening bands on the hose must be cut

- The lifting collar should be attached using the element ‘C’ at the coupling end,
lifting slings should be attached to the swivel crane-hook to prevent the hose from
twisting during lifting

- The hose must be lifted vertically out of the crate with the crane
(Refer to Fig 3)

Mode of packing: Steel crate

- The crate must be transported and stored in lying position.

- The crate must not be turned on to the side plate

- Transport the crate using a crane

- Lifting can be on the hoisting points in the four corners with minimum 60° rope-angle

Unpacking:

- The fastening bands on the hose must be cut

- The lifting collar (if supplied) should be attached using the element ‘C’ at the
coupling end and using lifting slings must be attached to the swivel crane-hook to
prevent the hose from twisting during lifting

- The hose must be lifted vertically out of the crate with the crane
(Refer to Fig 3)

Mode of packing: Reversible steel crate

- The crate can be transported and stored both in horizontal and vertical position.

1) Transporting in lying position:

- Lifting can be on the four hoisting points on the cover with minimum 600 rope-angle
(Refer to Fig 5)

2) Transporting in vertical position:

Using a fork lift truck: lift up the crate under the stiffened section placed at the
middle of the crate. The fork lift forks must not be shorter than the width of crate.
(Refer to Fig 6)

Using a crane: Lifting can be on the two hoisting points on the cover with minimum
600 rope-angle (Refer to Fig 7)

Unpacking:

- The crate must be laid horizontally

- The top cover plate fixed with bolts & nuts must be removed

- The fastening bands on the hose must be cut

- The lifting collar should be attached using the element ‘C’ at the coupling end,
lifting slings should be attached to the swivel crane-hook to prevent the hose from
twisting during lifting

- The hose must be lifted vertically out of the crate with the crane
(Refer to Fig 3)

Mode of packing: Lifting beam

- The lifting beam must be transported and stored in horizontal position.

- The lifting beam must not be turned on to the side

- Transport the crate using a crane

- Lift using the hoisting points on the lifting beam with minimum 60° rope-angle
(Refer to Fig 8)

Unpacking:

- The tie bars / threaded studs must be unscrewed and removed.

- The upper beam must be detached from the hose.

- The upper cushion wood must be removed

- If the hose is shorter than 35 feet, lift the hose out using the lifting beam as
shown in Fig 9 and Fig 10, alternatively when lifting beam is not available, use

wire ropes as shown in Fig. 11. If the hose is longer than 35 feet, a lifting beam
must be used with a maximum of 3 m between lifting points as shown in Fig. 12.
Use lifting straps (Refer to Fig 9 and Fig 10), minimum 6 inches wide. Do not lift
the hose with wire-ropes!

Mode of packing: Horizontal flat pallet

- The flat pallet must be transported and stored in horizontal position.

- The flat pallet must not be turned on to the side plate

- Transport the flat pallet using a crane or fork lift truck

Using a crane: Lifting can be on the four hoisting points with minimum 600 rope-angle
(Refer to Fig 13)

lift forks must not be shorter than the width of crate. (Refer to Fig 14)

Unpacking:

- The fastening bands on the hose must be cut

- If the hose is shorter than 35 feet, lift the hose out using the lifting beam as
shown in Fig 9 and Fig 10, alternatively when lifting beam is not available, use
wire ropes as shown in Fig. 11. If the hose is longer than 35 feet, a lifting beam
must be used with a maximum of 3 m between lifting points as shown in Fig. 12.
Use lifting straps (Refer to Fig. 9 and Fig. 10), minimum 6 inches wide. Do not lift
