=Community action is a campaign undertaken by people living


in a particular place. It is also an action undertaken by members
of community for that community’s own improvement.

How is citizenship acquired?
Citizenship is acquired in four ways
The first one is Jus Sanguinis (By blood), Jus Soli (by
Soil/land), Jure Matrimonii( By marriage to a citizen) and by
Naturalization.

Describe and give examples of each type of community.


-Formal Communities
Engage in joint activities and discussion, help each other, and
share information with each other; they care about their standing
with each other.
Examples of formal communities are Ecovillages, Co-
housing communities, Co-ops communities, Religious
communities

-Informal Communities
Consists of a set of personal relations, social networks,
common interest and emotional sources of motivation.
Examples of formal communities are academic
communities , recreation communities and retirement
communities.

-Urban Communities
Large in terms of land area & population, advanced in science &
technology, with favorable physical environment and & diverse
cultures, and the people are engaged in various occupations.
Example: Cities and places that meets the characteristics of
Urban area. Like area that has many business establishments,
recreational centers, educational and religious institutions.
Rural Communities
Usually produce their own food for subsistence
Examples are areas like province that not yet fully established.

GLOBAL COMMUNITIES
It is the international aggregate of nation-states.
Common point of view towards issues of human rights, global
warming and climate change, peace and order, socio-economic
conditions as well as disputed issues such as territorial conflict.
Example: United Nations, ASEAN etc.

SECTORAL COMMUNITIES
Include the voluntary sector or non-profit sector
Sectoral communities are voluntary, non-profit and non-
governmental and also called third sector (in contrast to public
and private sector).
For example: UPF etc.

SOCIAL SPACE COMMUNITIES


Based on social spaces
Social space communities a social space is a physical or virtual
space
Example:
Physical: social center, gathering place, town squares, parks,
pubs, shopping malls
Social space communities are the Virtual: online social media,
websites
