Title:: Achievable and Affordable

This document provides instructions for building a bicycle generator to produce electricity. It lists the necessary equipment, which includes a bicycle, motor, battery, inverter, wires and other hardware. The 5 steps explain how to remove the back tire, attach a drive belt to power the motor, connect the battery to an inverter, and plug an appliance into the inverter. Pedaling the bike transfers kinetic energy to electrical energy stored in the battery, which can then power devices. The generator avoids costs of electricity while teaching the value of energy conservation.

Title: TO GENERATE ELECTRICITY TROUGH PEDAL POWER

Group members: AMIN, LEE , ABU& AHMAD on NOVEMBER 21, 2020

●●The project was created as part of Dignity For Children Foundation curriculum, so it is intended to
be both achievable and affordable.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED:
Parts Tools
- 2" X 4" Wood - Wrench
- V-belt - Saw
-light bulb - Wood
- Battery - Hammer & Screwdriver
- Inverter - Tape Measure
- Wire - Screwdriver
- Motor
- (12-V or higher)
- Perforated plumbers steel (if motor does not have mounting bracket)

Goal: Our intention is to generate electricity by using bicycle because the power has been cut for
not being able to pay the bill.

INTRODUCTION: How to generate electricity by using a bicycle?

Step 1: Obtain a bicycle and remove the back tire.

You will need to unscrew the back rim to remove the tire and tube. Since the only part of the bicycle that
needs to work is the chain and pedals, a junk bike or an old used bike would work just fine.

Step 2: Build a stand to elevate the bicycle off the ground.

.

Step:3 Attach the drive belt along the back rim.

Step 4: Connect the battery leads to the inverter.
You could use an adapter to connect the battery to the inverter, or you will need to solder or tape the
battery’s leads to the inverter so the circuit is secure.

Step 5: Plug the appliance of your choice into the inverter.

Fun Ideas
● Ever charged your phone and just waited until it was done charging?
Why not get a workout and charge it at the same time! See how much time it takes to charge
your phone.
Try to set a time and try to beat it in the future.

-Eco-Breakfast: If you are the type of person who wakes up in the morning wanting to exercise,
then try
this. Use the bicycle generator to make some toasts. There’s nothing like building up an
appetite, exercising, and cooking at the same time.
Eco-friendly: No burning fuels zero pollution.

WHAT TYPE OF ENERGY TRANSFORMATION OCCUR?

1: Kinetic energy----→ Chemical energy--→electrical energy--→ light energy and thermal

energy

2: .Electrical energy--→ Kinetic energy and sound energy

DESCRIPTION OF ENERGY CHANGES

As you pump your legs the back wheel starts to roll. Your kinetic energy is being
transferred to the bicycle. So , the driving belt attached along the back rim causes the
motor to move. The movement of the motor generate electrical energy and stores it as
chemical energy in the battery connected to it .The inverter converts the direct current
coming from battery to alternate current on which our home appliances generally runs.
When a light bulb is connected to the inverter the chemical energy from the battery is
converted into electrical energy to produce light energy and thermal energy.

Conclusion:
http://www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Build-A-Bicycle-Generator/
We have chosen this design to generate electricity to power appliances because
this method avoid high electric cost and enable us to understand the value of
energy. So that we don’t waste energy.
