LESSON DELIVERY Activity NTB
1. Students are introduced the subject’s vocabulary using the
flashcards and students raise their hands to say if they like
and are good at a subject.
2. Students repeat the words. Students play a matching
game/activity where students to the written words.
Activity 1(Student Book page 15)
1. Students pay attention to the pictures. They are asked
what subjects they are good at and what subjects they are
bad at. Students are asked if they have any more subjects
at school that are not depicted.
2. Students listen to a song and guess what it’s going to be
about.
3. The song plays once and students listen. The song plays a
second time, and students match the verses to the
corresponding pictures. Students sing the song.
TPR Activity (Student Book page 15)
1. Students take out their textbooks for their other subjects.
Students are explained that the song will be played again
and when they hear one of the subjects mentioned they
will have to raise the corresponding textbook.
2. Students can have photocopies of the flashcards with the
subjects and students have to raise the corresponding
flashcards whenever a subject is mentioned.

1. Students look at their timetable and explain the subjects
they learn in their school days. Students write down 3
subjects they like. Some students are asked what their
favourite subjects are, and why they like these subjects.
Activity 3(Student Book page 15)
1. Students pay attention to the picture. Students guess what
the children are doing. The CD is played and students
chorally repeat the exchange. Students individually model
the exchange.
2. Students pay attention to the table and are explained that
they will have to ask one another what their favorite
subject is and then fill in the table with their results.
3. Students divide into groups of four and they have to do the
activity.
4. Once students finish filling their tables, each group in
turns report their findings to the class.
Optional Activity (Teacher Book page 33)
1. Students sit in a circle. A student said, my favourite subject
is English. The student to their right has to say what
he/she said and add his/her favourite subject e.g. Your
favourite subject is English, my favourite subject is Math.
2. Students continue in the same manner. The student who
doesn’t remember a subject someone else has mentioned
is out of the game.

Students answer. Then their answer repeated by saying

are introduced the expression set the table. Students repeat and
mime the actions. The same procedure with the phrases clears the
table, take out the rubbish, rake leaves, shovel snow, and feed the
fish. Students present the new vocabulary through the use of
flashcards.
LESSON DELIVERY Activity 1(Student Book page 18)
1. Students look at the presentation and are asked what kind
of text this is and where they would find a page like this
one. Students look at the pictures and guess the
housework the children have to do at home.
2. Students listen and read the text to check their
predictions.
3. The CD play and students follow along silently. The CD is
played a second time and students shadow read. The third
time the CD is played, pause after each phrase for students
to repeat.
4. Students are asked questions to check comprehension.
Activity 2(Student Book page 19)
1. Students are explained that they have to refer to the
previous activity in order to complete the activity and
write the first letter of each of the children’s names under
the pictures of the jobs they do.
2. Students compare their answers in pairs first, then check
as a class.

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON The chairs are arranged in a circle and students sit down. Students
are asked about the tasks they do at home, their favourite subjects
or how often they do certain subjects and extracurricular activities.
Students answer yes or no to these questions. All students who
answer yes will have to get up and switch seats. The students that
answer no remain seated. Students are asked Do you set the table
at home? Students who say yes stand up and change seats. After
third question, while the students that answered yes are switching
seats, teacher quickly sit in one the empty seats. The students left
standing has to stand in the middle of the circle and ask questions
in the next round.
LESSON DELIVERY Activity 1-3 (Students Book page 21)
1. Students pay attention to the picture on page 21 and are
asked what they think the children are doing in each
picture. Students are handed out the sheets of cardboards.
2. Students are explained that first they are going to go
around in their groups and take turns asking students in
the other groups what jobs they do at home. While
students carry out the survey, they make a note of the
students’ answer.
3. After all of the groups are done carrying out the survey,
they will have to tally up their results and make a bar
chart exhibiting them. A few students are chosen to come
up to the front of the class and show their results.

different schools in Malaysia. Students describe them however

English. They compare these schools to their own in a basic way.

2. Students work in pairs or small groups to check one or more of
these in the dictionary.
3. Students check their understanding of the words by looking at

1. Students revise the vocabulary and the structures learnt in
the previous lesson by playing a round of game Hot card
pantomime. Some chairs are arranged in a circle at the
front of the classroom, making sure there’s a chair for
every student.
2. The word cards are folded with the housework in half.
3. Students are explained that once the music played, they
will have to pass the word card clockwise around the
circle. When the music stops, the student holding the word
card has to unfold it without letting anyone see it read the
phrase silently and mime the housework. The rest of
students have to guess the housework and call it out.
