ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON A game plays or an activity is done to introduce the broad topic of
celebrations.
LESSON DELIVERY Warm Up (Student Book page 37)
1.A calendar is stacked on the board and student are asked what
day and what month it is, then write on the board. Students are
explained that we write Monday,11 October, but we say Monday,
the eleventh of October. Students repeat the date.
Vocabulary (Student book page 37)
1.Students open their books to page 37. The CD is played and
students point to the number in the vocabulary section and repeat.
The words/phrases are said and students repeat and point.
Students are asked what they notice about the formation of ordinal
numbers and point out the exceptions.
Activity 1(Student Book page 37)
1.Students pay attention to the pictures. Students are asked what
they can see in the pictures. Students listen to a song and guess
what is going to be about. The song is played once and students
listen. The song is played a second time and students match each
verse to the corresponding picture. Students are invited to sing the
song.
Activity NTB
1.A few words are highlighted from the song such as celebrate,
celebration, fun and special. Students receive the worksheet, which
has a choice of definitions for each word in clear and simple
English.

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON PRE-LESSON TASK 1 : ABC'S
LESSON DELIVERY 1. Students are reminded of the story they read on page 38.
Students are asked what they remember about the story.
2. The worksheet are distributed to students. They will listen to the
story again and they answer the True and False questions on the
worksheet. The CD (CD1, Track 56) plays for the story in Activity 1.
Students discuss the correct answers.
3. Students discuss for the next listening activity by having them
work with the pictures in Activity 4 in the Student’s Book in a
speaking activity.
Activity 4(Student Book page 39)
1.Students will listen to some children talking about their
Halloween plans and they will have to tick the correct boxes. The
CD is played and students do the activity. Students compare their
answers in pairs first, then check as a class.
2.Students work in pairs to exchange their opinions of
Independence Day based on what they have learned in the
student’s book. If time allows, students give their opinions of
familiar celebrations.

conversation is about. Students discuss why they think that is the
answer.

1.Students are explained that they are going to listen to a boy and a
girl talking about what they’re going to do on a celebration.
Students guess what celebration the children are talking about by
pointing to the fireworks. The CD is played twice and students do
the activity. Students check answers in pairs first, then check as a
class.
Activity 4(Student Book page 41)
1.Students pay attention to the children in the picture and they
guess what they’re doing. The CD is played and students chorally
repeat the exchange. Students read the four sentences, and refer to
activity 1 to correct them.
2.Students divide into pairs. They take turns to correct the
sentences. Some students say the correct sentences for the whole
class.
