AGEING – is the gradual change in the structure and function, which occur with the passage of time.

Three Phases of Aging:


1. PRE-RETIREMENT PHASE - this phase can begin as early as age 50 when individuals start to
consciously wonder and think of life after adulthood.
2. RETIREMENT PHASE – at the age65, the second phase of the aging, an aging adult, experiences a
temporary crisis in life health, financial stability and lifestyle are major factors
in influencing the quality of life at this stage.
3. POST- RETIREMENT PHASE – this third phase may also be referred to as the Senility Phase. It is
characterized by the aging person exhibiting many of diseases and
disabilities associated with aging seniors going into this phase likely to
have more medical problem as well as physical complaints.
