1 Foreword

FOREWORD

The COVID-19 epidemic has had a profound global impact, highlighting the need for research in
the field of emerging infectious diseases. I am pleased to note that Bentham Science Publishers has
now started a new journal focusing on coronaviruses, and that it contains original research articles,
letters, reviews, clinical trial reports and guest-edited thematic issues. The journal will cover various
aspects of research on coronaviruses, including epidemiology, pathogenesis, transmission, spread,
clinical and genomic characteristics, prevention strategies, vaccine development, etc. I hope that this
new journal will help virologists, molecular biologists, statisticians, bioinformaticians and other inter-
disciplinary scientists to follow what is going on in this rapidly emerging field and constantly update
their knowledge.

Here I would like to acknowledge the hard work and enthusiastic support of the authors as well as the Editor- in-Chief and
the Editorial Board Members throughout the publication process. I am also thankful to the working staff of Bentham Science
Publishers including Mr. Mahmood Alam, Mr. Qasit Malik and Ms. Mehwish Akhtar, who played a significant role in the pub-
lication of the inaugural issue of this journal.
