COST REDUCTION MEASURES
The following measures according to me could have been taken to
reduce cost and wastage to a great extent
1.
DOORS ,WINDOWS AND FRAMES
You canWINDOWS
DOORS, also split your
AND content
FRAMES

BEFORE AFTER

● The original doors were wooden and window frames and door frames were metal and hence very
durable without any need for maintenance in their lifetime of 20 yrs till date.
● These are being replaced by higher grade wood in terms of quality and design, but totally unnecessary
as the original ones served the purpose well
● These frames increased the cost of the project a great deal as
1.Wood is expensive
2.Labour Cost increased as a lotlabour went into first removing the existing frames and door and then
Newones.
3.Also the frames were not made on site, thus adding an additional transportation cost
2.
Brick Wall for Privacy
BRICK WALL FOR PRIVACY

● This hideous brick wall is the epitome of ignorance with regards to

wastage .
● The purpose of this brick wall is solely to provide privacy ,which could
have been achieved at much less cost and more aesthetic value
● Like installing a hedge with creepers or could have utilised the waste
bricks from the interior walls which were broken.
● The criss crossed grills from the waste window frames could be
welded to make a fence and could be covered with climbers.
3.
LIGHTING - NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL

Our LIGHTING
process is easy

False ceiling in buffer space in

front of the entrance door is
unnecessary

Bedroom 2

● Increase in cost by unnecessarily cementing and

permanently closing windows ,thus cutting natural light.
● Use of aluminium frames for false ceiling and cove
lighting in buffer spaces too ,addind to the cost.
● False ceiling done in both bedrooms ,which have wall
length windows and ample light flooding in,thus
increasing cost by installing cove lights in all rooms
along with other lamps and downlighters
4.
BUILDING AND DEMOLISHING WALLS

WALLS

● The intention was to increase the area of the rooms ,which is why a lot of walls were either built or
broken.
● The cost could have been reduced drastically had measures been taken
1.The bricks from the old walls could have been used for building the new walls saving cost and
wastage both.
2 The old bricks could be used to make the wall in the lawn, which was only for privacy.
3. The broken bricks could be used in the brick ballast in the flooring.
● Instead the old bricks were either thrown out or randomly lying in piles on the site
5.
WASTAGE AND LACK OF REUSE
In two or
WASTAGE ANDthree
LACKcolumns
OF REUSE

● Granite from original kitchen slab could be

used in the washrooms, saving costs for the slab
Granite from
in the washrooms.
original ● As a alot of windows are permanently
kitchen slab closed, glass from those windows could be cut
and used elsewhere saving some cost on glass.
● Extra Raw materials are kept in the open as of
now,subjecting them to the weather
conditions, dirt and garbage which might make
them unfit for usage, rather should be stored in
a covered place, thus saving time and money,
by not purchasing more material.
Thankyou !
