VI. STEPS OF ACTIVITIES
a. Initial activity (5 ')
Greetings and greetings
Check the number of students / attendance
Check student readiness in class
Explain the topic of learning and learning objectives.
Tell the assessment techniques & KKM that must be achieved
b. Core activities
Pre Activity (10 ')
The teacher pre-teaches the sports.
Students are divided into groups of 4 - 6 students.
The teacher has previously prepared pictures of types of sports (tennis, volleyball, ride a
horse, rollerblade, basketball, gymnastics, cycle, snowboard, skiing, football, skateboarding,
rugby, etc.)
1 group member comes to the front, the teacher shows one of the sports pictures, the
student then demonstrates the sport (miming) and the other students in the group guess the
type of sport in question within the time determined by the teacher. If their answer is correct,
the group will get points.
The group with the most points at the end of the game becomes the winner.
After all types of sports have been demonstrated, the teacher again shows the sports
pictures to remind students again about the types of sports in English.
Main Activity (50 ')
The teacher invites students to discuss sports they like to do and how often they do these
sports.
The teacher explains to the students that they will listen to a conversation between Hannah
and Sam which will talk about sports.
Students open SB things. 71.
Students listen to the conversation between Hannah and Sam (CD2 T23) and do exercise 7a.
The teacher checks students' answers.
Students go back to listening to the CD to do Exercise 7b.
The teacher checks students' answers and their reasons.
The teacher gives an assessment of the work of students.
The teacher reminds the students of the conversations they have just heard. The teacher
shows the sentence taken from the conversation I like watching tennis on TV but I don't really
like playing it.
The teacher explains the meaning of the sentence and asks students to complete the table
contained in SB p. 71 exercise 8a.
Students then practice making sentences using like / don't like + -ing (source: exercises 8b
and 8c)
Students in pairs ask and answer questions using the questions in exercise 8c.
Post activity (10 ')
Students change pairs and share the answers of their previous pairs with their new partners.
Example: Claudia likes swimming but she doesn't like watching TV.
c. Final activity (5 ')
The teacher repeats what has just been learned by asking questions.
