Magnesia Carbonica.
Pure carbonate of Magnesium is triturated for use.
General Effects :- º In general it produces gastric and intestinal catarrh,
acid eructations, sour-smelling stools and sour perspiration. º Great
flatulence (with is said not to be caused by calcined magnesia). º One of the
most interesting effects in connection with the acid most interesting effects
in connection with the acid dyspepsia is the great tendency to neuralgia,
marked in all the Magnesias, especially about the face.
Allies :- º Hep., Puls., Alumina, Calcarea c., Puls., Coloc., Pod., etc.
Generalities :- º Twitching in vessels of thighs, shoulders and face. º
Trembling in morning, amel. rising, with weakness. º Burning stitches here
and there. º Wandering tearing in forenoon ; T. during menses, now in both
sides of head, now in vertex, now in nape, amel. night ; jerking T. now in
vertex, now in occiput, upper arms and thighs all day. º Pains here and there
in all parts. º Jerking pains on rising from bed. º Easily sprained, on bending
arm backward shoulder pains as if dislocated and on touch feels bruised, and
inability to turn head to left without pain. º Soreness of whole body. º
Sensitiveness of skin of head and body, especially to cold, cold creeping
through skin and chilliness through and through from every draught. º
Internal restlessness, with distraction of mind and trembling of hands.
º Weakness ; all day, with heaviness ; greater in morning after a good
night's sleep than in evening on lying down ; in morning in bed ; in morning,
with discomfort and apathy ; in morning on waking, amel. lying down again,
with bruised feeling in hands and feet, and trembling, and on getting out of
bed coldness ; in afternoon, when sitting and walking, amel. standing ; in
evening ; when walking ; when eating ; after eating, with pallor, nausea and
vomiting of dark food ; after an indigestible dinner, with sleepiness so that
he suddenly fell asleep when standing and talking, with confusion of head,
which made thought impossible ; during menses ; during menses, with
sweat ; after stool ; after diarrhœa ; after vomiting ; with suffering
expression and nausea ; with heaviness ; with discomfort, anxious warmth
and sweat ; sudden, when walking in open air ; of mind and body.
º Dizzy faintness at 9 P.M. in bed, with coldness, then nausea, afterwards
frequent waking with nausea, agg. slightest motion, agg. morning after

rising, with taste and eructations almost like bad eggs, pale face and
coldness. º Stiffness of whole body in morning on rising. º Symptoms which
occur when sitting are usually amel. walking (Puls.). º Amelioration in open
air (Alum., Puls.).
Clinical :- º General tendency to neuralgic pains and general
aggravation at night, when there is a great deal of fever and restlessness
(Sul.).

Mind :- º Talkative in afternoon, everything prospers. º Ill humor ; all day,


amel. evening ; in forenoon ; afternoon ; evening ; at 7 P.M. ; when walking
in evening ; so that she does not know what she shall undertake, with
constant sweat ; yet humming ; good humor on first day of menses, the next
three days ill humor. º Anxiety all day, agg. moving about, with sweat ; A. at
night, the bed felt like stones, with constant tossing about ; at night causing
late falling asleep, frequent necessity to uncover herself, which she could
not endure long on account of coldness ; at night, and she could not bear to
have her hands covered, but if she put them out they immediately became
too cold ; after rising, with prostration and with stitches in whole body ;
when eating soup, with warmth, agg. head ; tremulous A. and fright as if she
apprehended some misfortune, amel. evening in bed. º Sadness ; and
apprehension ; and unwillingness to talk. º Apathy in afternoon, with
apprehension and compressive headache. º Confusion from mental labor,
with stupefaction. º Forgetfulness.
Head :- º Sticking in morning after rising, with pressure over eyes ; S. at
10.30 A.M. when standing, then bruised pain in right and then in left side of
head, with feeling as if it would be amel. moving head, which was not the
case ; from 8 P.M. till sleep, making her ill-humored ; here and there ; here
and there from dinner till 3 P.M. º Tearing in evening and night, with
sticking as from knives, so that she thought it would take away her senses. º
Aching in morning in bed, lasting till towards 10 A.M. ; in afternoon, agg.
towards evening, with sensitiveness of head to pressure, as from an ulcer ;
during menses, with heaviness and internal heat ; jerking, at 1 P.M. after
vexation, agg. constantly till amel. evening in bed, with heaviness ;
drawing ; as from stiffness of neck. º Pressure across during mental work ;
P. over whole, in the house with many people. º Feeling as if screwed
together from sides at 5 P.M., then also in occiput.
º Heaviness in morning, with yawning and nausea ; H. in morning during
menses, with agglutination of inner canthi ; in afternoon, with pain ; when
lying after midday nap, with bloody saliva. º Confusion in morning on
rising, amel. washing and moving about, with stupefaction, as from
insufficient sleep. º Vibration internally on slight motion. º Rush of blood in
forenoon ; R. agg. smoking. º Vertigo in morning on rising, amel. walking,
with heaviness of head ; V. in evening when sewing, with nausea,
afterwards when lying unconsciousness ; when kneeling, as if she would fall
into a heap ; frequent V. like loss of consciousness ; as if everything turned
around with her and as if she would fall forward ; as if everything went
round with her, in morning after rising ; with nausea and frequent

salivation ; objects seem to go around at 11 A.M., when standing, with


intoxicated feeling and heaviness of head.
Forehead :- º Vibrating jerking above left eye on motion, extending through
head. º Sticking at 6 P.M. ; intermittent S. ; outward in right side, more
externally at 3.30 P.M., preceded by tickling. º Cutting as if skin would be
cut through from middle towards left eye. º Tearing deep in centre in
afternoon, with beating ; T. in afternoon and evening, amel. in bed, with
drawing backward in nape ; deep in right side of brain at 4 P.M., then in left,
at last in front of left ear ; in F. and top of head after dinner, with heaviness ;
in brain as if benumbed and heavy, from 1 till 5 P.M. º Pain ; in sinciput and
eyes ; from 8 A.M. till noon ; on waking, amel. 4 P.M., stupefying, in left at 3
P.M., and at times in eyes. º Drawing pain all the forenoon ; in morning, with
nausea. º Painful drawing to occiput all day during menses, with heaviness
of brain. º Heaviness at 5 P.M., with suppurative pain in left side of occiput ;
H. when standing. º She felt the beat of an artery.
Temples :- º Sticking in left ; in right after dinner ; in left, then above right
ear. º Tearing in left at 5 P.M., in left in afternoon, amel. pressure ; in left in
evening on lying down, amel. pressure, but returning ; in right involving
eye ; upward in left in evening, with aching in last molar.
Vertex :- º Stitches at 2 P.M. ; S. through brain to right side of occiput at
10.30 A.M. ; in right side, then on moving head towards the left tearing in
right side of occiput. º Jerking tearing, then sensitiveness to pressure. º
Bruised pain during and after menstruation, with sensitiveness to touch
towards evening. º Pain as if the hair were pulled upward from 5 till 9 P.M.
Sides :- º Stitches in left at 3 P.M. when standing ; here and there in left at 7
P.M. ; in anterior angle of right parietal bone at 7 P.M. ; outward in right at
night when lying upon it, amel. turning upon other side ; in right after
dinner, with internal throbbing ; in right when standing, extending forward ;
in left parietal bone and in upper and forepart of right, extending towards
each other ; extending inward at 5 P.M., with internal tearing ; inward in
right when sitting after dinner, with tearing ; boring, in upper part of right
through to right side occiput at 8.30 A.M. º Boring in left in evening. º Pain
in left, agg. temple, waking her at night, amel. raising head.
Occiput :- º Sticking, and even over whole head ; S. in evening. º Pain. º
Tension as if something drew head backward during and after swallowing,
agg. standing, amel. sitting.
Scalp :- º º Hair falls out profusely. º Itching in morning after rising, agg.
scratching ; on right side in forenoon, amel. scratching ; every evening ; on
vertex during dinner ; on left side, amel. scratching ; of scurf every
morning ; of scurf in evening, amel. scratching ; of scurf in rainy weather.
Clinical :- º Preparations of Magnesia (particularly Mag. phos.) have
been found valuable for neuralgias of the forehead, especially
supraorbital.

Eyes :- º Matter in them in morning on waking, with burning and dim

vision. º Swollen in morning after waking, and she could not open them for
a long time ; seem swollen in morning after waking, with dizziness. º
Sticking, with burning and with red vessels in whites. º Tearing in morning
in bed, then lachrymation, amel. washing. º Pain. º Pain in left as if it would
burst or were forced outward, with lachrymation, at times much water runs
from left nostril, with aggravation of the drawing sticking above left eye on
blowing nose. º Burning ; all day ; in bright daylight. º Dryness ; in
morning ; during menses, with burning and dimness. º Biting in left, with
lachrymation. º Itching in left at 4 P.M., amel. rubbing, with biting ; I. in
right at 10 P.M. with burning ; in right after dinner ; voluptuous, of left at
4.30 P.M., amel. rubbing.
º Lachrymation all day ; in morning ; of right ; of right, with burning in it
and red vessels in inner canthus. º Swelling of ball as if "dropsy of eye"
would form. º Agglutination of lids in morning on waking ; A., with pressure
in eyes. º Inflammation and swelling of lower lids, with redness of one
canthus. º Jerking tearing in lower lids, causing lachrymation. º Jerking
tearing in lower lids. º Burning in right inner canthus, with inflammation. º
Itching in canthi in evening, with burning ; I. in left inner, amel. rubbing ;
biting, of right inner, amel. rubbing. º Tearing on right upper margin of
orbit. º Pressure about eyes towards evening. º Photophobia, with burning in
eyes. º Vision of right eye vanishes when looking intently. º Vision foggy ;
in afternoon, agg. right eye ; dim in the inflamed eye as if feathers were
before it.
Clinical :- º In some cases the development of senile cataract has been
arrested. º It has cured styes and chronic blepharitis. º Warts on lids.

Ears :- º Inflammation of right external meatus, with suppurative pain, then


sensitiveness to pressure. º Stitches in front of left at 5.30 P.M., behind right
at 3 P.M., ending with tension, temporarily amel. pressure. º Tearing in right
external concha at 10 A.M. ; in concha at 7.30 P.M. º Boring in right ; in left
in forenoon, with stitches. º Sore pain behind lobule of right on pressure. º
Burning smarting below lobule of left during menses. º Tickling in right at
6.30 P.M. º Itching in right external meatus, amel. scratching.
º Sensitiveness to noise. º Noise in left in morning in bed, with pain on
touch ; loud N. in right after dinner. º Ringing ; in left, or noises ; in right
after dinner. º Roaring in right at 11 A.M., with fluttering, whizzing and
hardness of hearing ; R. in right at 3 P.M. ; in left at 4.30 P.M., with noises
like a storm of wind and with diminished hearing ; in right, with diminished
hearing, with intoxicated feeling, agg. in the house ; in right as if near
rushing water at 7 P.M. ; before ears, so that she could not stay in bed ; in
front of ears, alternating with whistling. º Fluttering in right ; in evening.
Clinical :- º It has been prescribed for deafness, especially with
abscesses and swellings in ears.

Nose :- º Redness in evening, with swelling. º Scab in nostril. º Blisters in


nostrils, with dragging pain. º Tearing near margin of left eye at 7 A.M.,
extending to left temple. º Stoppage of nose, only at times discharge of a few

drops ; with a feeling of coryza in morning. º Stoppage at 8 A.M. ; at 5.30


P.M. ; alternating with fluent coryza. º Dryness every morning on waking ; in
morning, with stoppage of left nostril. º Tickling at 10.30 A.M., with
ineffectual attempts to sneeze ; T. in evening, the sneezing ; in right nostril,
amel. scratching, but returning ; in left nostril, irritation to sneeze. º Itching
in left nostril ; in nostrils after dinner and at 3 P.M., amel. scratching.
º Sneezing in morning during menses ; in morning from tickling in nose ; in
morning, with stoppage of nose ; violent, in morning, with tickling in nose. º
Coryza, agg. morning and evening ; C. on appearance of menses, with
stoppage of nose ; C., with stoppage of right nostril. º Stopped coryza ; with
stoppage of nose, walking her at night ; with secretion of nasal mucus. º
Fluent coryza ; in morning, dry in afternoon ; in morning on rising, then
stoppage of nose all day ; C., with discharge of thick mucus and feeling as if
nose were swollen from frequent blowing. º Unnoticed dropping of water
without coryza. º A clot of blood is blown out with mucus. º Bleeding ; in
morning ; waking at 3 and 5 A.M., with violent sneezing and tickling in right
nostril ; and from mouth.
Face :- º Pale during menses ; P., with suffering and earthy look ; P. and of
bad color, with general discomfort. º Redness from 5 till 7 P.M., with heat of
it ; with heat of whole body. º Fretful expression in forenoon. º Tearing in
left side in afternoon ; in zygoma at night, amel. sitting up in bed or driving
her out of bed, with burrowing and boring as with a red-hot iron, and with
anxiety. º Pain, so that she must run from room to room all night, hold the
painful side and wag the head, agg. remaining quiet. º Twinging in centre
between chin and lip at 6 P.M., with burning. º Tension as if the white of an
egg had dried upon it. º Throbbing in antrum of highmore, with swelling of
right malar-bone (Nat. m.). º Suppurative pain in right lower jaw and in
cheek, agg. pressure, with redness and swelling and with jerking on talking,
sneezing and yawning.
Lips :- º Hard pimples in corners. º Vesicles on lower, near right corner ;
clear V. in left corner of upper, with tensive pain. º Pustule on upper ; on
lower. º Tearing in left lower. º Soreness of upper. º Dryness in morning,
amel. noon, without thirst. º Burning in middle of upper and above it, with
tension. º Itching in upper in forenoon, with feeling as if eruption would
break out.
Clinical :- º Neuralgia of the face, with shooting, lightning like pains,
agg. touch, draught of air or change of temperature, cannot stay in bed, is
obliged to walk the floor.

Mouth :- º
Teeth :- º Looseness, with swelling of gums. º (Lower wisdom come
through.). º Sticking after eating ; S. in roots of three left upper at 3 P.M.,
with tearing, and in open air sensitiveness of teeth and tickling in them. º
Tearing in roots of left lower, then also in right lower ; T. in right lower
anterior molars at 4 P.M. ; in a right lower molars at 8 P.M., with drawing ; in
last left molars without being able to distinguish whether in upper or lower,

in evening in bed till sleep and in morning on waking, amel. rising ; T.


rather than throbbing pain at night, with elongated feeling ; in right lower
hollow, after menstruation, amel. applying cold water or lying upon that
side, but returning till 4 A.M., agg. warm room, with drawing, gnawing
uneasiness, ill humor and tensive pain over right cheek ; in a right lower
molar at 1 P.M., then in an upper, as if it would be twisted out ; in right
lower after dinner, extending into temples.
º Toothache in right in morning, amel. prolonged moving beginning in
evening in bed and at night driving him out of bed, extending to temples ;
when riding in a carriage, agg. cold ; agg. night ; agg. getting into bed, with
salivation ; with swelling of cheek. º Raging pain in a right hollow. º Jerking
pain in morning after rising and in night, with jerking in fingers and feet. º
Burning pain in evening in bed, with pain as if teeth were loose ; B. pain,
now in one, now in another, amel. movement of body, agg. night in bed and
during the day by chewing, with throbbing, tearing and elongated feeling. º
Beating and drawing pain all night ; D. pain in all, with swelling and redness
of gum. º Elongated feeling ; in the back tooth, with pain in morning if cold
water touches it, as if it would be torn out, and on chewing.
Gums :- º Painless swelling, even in sockets of teeth. º Burning blisters, and
on lips, palate and inside of cheeks. º Pain internally to upper lip as if cut to
pieces in middle from morning till afternoon, and burning on touch of
tongue. º Sensitiveness on eating, with burning in it and sensation as if teeth
were too long and as if they would fall out, agg. lower front incisors.
Tongue :- º Pimples, and on inside of cheeks, bleeding on touch and
burning when eating, agg. acids. º On forepart of left margin of T. and on
lower lip burning, painful blisters, suppurating on third day. º Tensive
painful blisters on anterior margin of T. and right corner of mouth.
General Mouth :- º Reddish-blue spot on inside of left cheek, bleeding
when rubbed. º Blisters on palate, with feeling as if skin were loosened on
eating bread, next day feeling as if the spot were denuded and sore, the
blisters and raw sensation amel. appearance of menses. º Palate raw
posteriorly in morning. º Heat all day ; burning in palate in morning as if
skin were loosened. º Dryness ; in morning on waking, and in throat ; all day
without thirst ; at night, without thirst. º Itching on inside of right cheek. º
Numbness in morning and forenoon, agg. palate and anterior half of tongue.
º Slimy and mealy in forenoon. º Bloody saliva. º Salivation during
menstruation.
Taste :- º º Sour ; suddenly in throat, then rawness. º Bitter ; even to
morning broth ; in morning, and pasty ; in morning, with white tongue and
white mucus in mouth ; in morning, and slimy, and mucus hangs from teeth
and tongue. º Bitter sweetish, amel. eating bread, and mouth full of mucus. º
Flat during menstruation, with little appetite. º Not good at dinner. º None to
food ; and tongue coated white and mouth feeling slimy.
Clinical :- º Neuralgic toothache, agg. warmth of the bed, amel. cold
drinks (Coffee, Puls.). º The toothache of this drug, like that of Merc,

seems to be worse at night, and from the heat of the bed.

Throat :- º Thyroid gland seems larger. º Pain in right submaxillary gland


on pressure and on motion of jaw. º Expectoration of blood-streaked mucus.
º Mucus which he must swallow, with rawness and dryness ; M., which she
attempts to hawk up ; ineffectual desire to hawk up something in afternoon.
º Spasmodic retching at 8 P.M. as if distended. º Sticking in right side in
evening on empty swallowing ; S. low down when talking. º Sensation as if
stopped so that no air could pass, in morning after rising. º Pain in forenoon
on swallowing as if a thick substance lay across it. º Sensation of a hard
substance in it when not swallowing, with burning and choking, rawness and
inclination to hawk. º Soreness in right side, with stitches and burning in left
side on talking, sneezing, yawning and agg. swallowing ; prickling S. in
right posterior nares, as in coryza.
º Scraping ; and rancidity as from old smoked meat. º Rawness ; in forenoon,
amel. dinner, with hoarseness ; amel. a few paroxysms of cough, with
hoarseness ; on swallowing, as if a grain of barley were sticking in it ; with
burning ; with burning acidity. º Dryness in morning, with sticking in left
side ; D. in afternoon on swallowing, with feeling as if it would split ; D. on
swallowing. º Tickling causing short cough. º Irritation in region of thyroid
gland in forenoon, with frequent cough.
Stomach :- º Hunger, but no appetite for bread ; ravenous H. in evening
before menstruation, then pain in stomach ; great for vegetables, but
aversion to meat. º Inclined to eat fruit and acid things in general (Verat.). º
Little A. º Satiated immediately at noon, with distention of abdomen after
eating. º No A. ; at noon, it only comes while eating. º Does not relish warm
food, has no inclination for bread and butter. º Aversion to food ; from 6 to 7
P.M., with nausea ; with nausea ; with shuddering ; with pain and coldness in
stomach ; to green food, relish for meat.
º Thirst for water in forenoon, but in afternoon dryness of mouth, without
thirst ; for water after 1 P.M. ; T. from 11 till 2 o'clock, with appetite for
acids ; T. in afternoon ; in evening ; towards evening, she drinks much and
is obliged rise at night to urinate ; waking her at night, on appearance of
menses ; on waking from a dream that she was excessively thirsty ; after
dinner, then chilliness, in evening heat of face with coldness of feet and
mental excitement ; for cold drinks after diarrhœa ; much T., with little
appetite.
º Eructations ; in forenoon, with pain in stomach ; at 2.30 P.M. ; towards
evening, with sneezing ; before menstruation, with nausea ; after eating
plums, with salivation, vertigo and nausea ; ineffectual ; acid ; tasting of
morning soup. º Empty E. ; in morning after soup ; with tearing or cutting
from left to right side above umbilicus ; of cold air. º Rising of water into
mouth without eructations.
º Hiccough in morning after rising, then eructations ; at 6.30 P.M. ; during
and after yawning ; incomplete, with spasmodic pain in stomach.

º Nausea ; in morning, with constant spitting ; in forenoon, with salivation ;


in forenoon during menses ; at noon when eating soup, with vertigo, then
retching, at last vomiting of salt water, then of the soup, then again only
water, with anxiety, so that sweat stool on forehead, then white diarrhœa,
then cutting and distention in abdomen ; in afternoon, with salivation ; in
afternoon, agg. dinner, with general discomfort ; from 6 to 7 P.M. ; all night,
with eructations of the odor of bad eggs ; in abdomen after supper, with
weakness and sleepiness ; with shaking, then eructations ; with
constipation ; with feeling as if stomach were full of water and desire to
eructate ; with pressure, as from a stone in stomach, and after black coffee
faint dizziness, with yellow and blue rings around eyes, then two attacks of
vomiting of food and bitter and sour mucus, then relief of stomach, but
headache and weakness at 7 P.M. ; with vomiting and empty eructations ;
without aversion to food, but with heaviness of head and ill humor ; without
qualmishness. º Efforts to vomit at noon when eating soup, but vomiting of
only butter water, and then bitter mouth for a long time.
º Distention amel. eructations. º Rumbling towards noon ; at 7 P.M., with
yawning, then R. in abdomen. º Stitching in pit ; to right of pit, extending
into right chest ; sudden to right of pit, as with a knife, at 2 P.M. º Pain ; after
dinner, with contractive sensation ; in morning, causing nausea, without
qualmishness, amel. soup ; extending into chest, amel. empty eructations ;
constrictive ; like soreness on touch, in S. and hypochondria, even at night in

rising. º Griping in right. º Intermittent pinching towards umbilicus in
forenoon, with constriction ; P. externally beneath right lowest ribs,
extending into ribs, then burning, taking the same direction. º Pinching
movings at 5.45 P.M. º Paralytic pain in left at 8.30 P.M., preventing lying on
that side. º Feeling as if there were something hard in hepatic region, with
griping in abdomen.
º Tearing in left side of A., agg. walking. º Cutting in left. º Griping in sides.

amel. emission of flatus, then stool, the first part of which was scanty and

Umbilicus :- º Rumbling beneath U. two hours after dinner. º Cutting about

morning, with distention of abdomen, then stool, which at first was hard,

micturition, extending into small of back and left hip, with sensation as if

Hypogastrium :- º Fulness at 2.30 P.M., amel. walking. º Cutting from small
of back to pubis ; C. in groins, waking her at night, with dragging. º

Intermittent griping beneath umbilicus in afternoon, afterwards the pain
extended to stomach ; constrictive G. in right groin at 11 A.M. º Pain every
morning in bed, amel. eating ; P. at 9 A.M., agg. till 11 A.M., with griping
and dragging towards genitals, after 9 A.M. reappearance of menses, which
disappeared in afternoon. º Dragging all night and in morning during

Clinical :- º Colic amel. bending over (Coloc.).
Rectum :- º Sticking, with urging to stool, amel. emission of flatus ; S.
waking her at 4 A.M., somewhat amel. emission of flatus, which was painful,
S. again next morning after waking, amel. emission of flatus. º Tearing
extending into abdomen, during stool. º Pressure when not at stool. º Urging,
amel. breakfast ; U. for diarrhœa, waking at 11 P.M., and at 3 A.M., and
about 4 and 6 P.M. stool of greenish slimy liquid ; constant U. though but
little passes, and it is only like a fermentation. º Frequent ineffectual urging
in forenoon ; U., but only a little is passed, then ineffectual U., then burning

diarrhœa would occur ; U. as before diarrhœa, but only flatus passed.
Anus :- º Painful hæmorrhoids. º Passage of round worms when not at stool.
º Pain as if sore and ulcerated between 2 and 3 P.M. when sitting and
walking. º Burning after stool.
Clinical :- º Ascarides.
Stool :- º º Of greenish water, with distention of abdomen (Pod., Puls.,
Grat.), without other symptoms, eight times before 10 A.M. ; frequent
green, liquid, also always preceded by griping, agg. right side (Podo.). º
Livid brown. º Liquid, then tenesmus and burning semi-liquid, without
trouble. º Thin, then burning in anus ; almost daily three thin, without
trouble. º Diarrhœa ; in two attacks before midnight ; green, frothy ; of
green mucus mixed with white thread-worms, then burning in anus ; of
green mucus (Merc. dulc.) at 5 A.M. º Frequent diarrhœa ; with cutting and
pressure ; without difficulty ; and green. º Soft, at the end, with pressure ; S.
always preceded by twinging in abdomen, amel. loud emission of flatus ; S.
and scanty.
º Constipation. º Hard ; and not till evening, with pressure and pain ; after
dinner, and difficult ; and scanty, with pressure ; with pressure ; with pain in
anus ; in first part, the past part thin, then burning in rectum ; and crumbling,
it troubled her a long time before it passed. º Yellow, with urging. º
Containing round worms. º Difficult ; but not hard. º Normal, twice daily. º
Only every second day.
Clinical :- º Sometimes indicated when the stools have a sour odor
(Calc., Rheum). º Diarrhœa, stools of green water ; the stools are
frequently bloody, sometimes have a green scum (Grat.), with white
lumps like grains of tallow, rarely of bloody mucus, almost always sour,
associated with more or less colic, with acid eructations and sour odor of
the body (its most similar remedies in this connection seem to be Rheum
and Gratiola.

Urinary Organs :- º Discharge of prostatic fluid during emission of flatus. º


Stitch in urethra in region of glans. º Smarting in urethra during micturition.
º Burning in urethra in afternoon after micturition. º B. during micturition,
like salt water, even stinging. º Frequent micturition ; and copious ; at night,
and copious. º Involuntary micturition when walking ; on rising from a seat.
º Urine diminished in evening, then burning. º Urine green. º U. pale. º
White sediment.
Sexual Organs :- º Erections slow, but coition natural. º Emissions at night.
º Desire diminished. º Itching of pudenda. º Leucorrhœa ; in afternoon when
walking and sitting ; scanty, after menstruation ; like water ; and sitting ;
scanty, after menstruation ; like water ; biting ; of white mucus, preceded by
cramp in abdomen.
º º Menstruation delayed, scanty and lasting but a short time ; delayed,

preceded by sore throat ; delayed, at first scanty, then profuse, with large
clots of blood ; D. and profuse. º M. too early ; with pain in small of back,
agg. sitting, amel. walking ; with tearing toothache and distention of
abdomen, lasting four weeks (it is usually very scanty) ; and thick and
black ; and scanty, lasting only two days ; and scanty, but lasting three days
longer than usual ; and scanty at first, then profuse and dark ; after a foot
bath, at first scanty, then profuse, dark, and dragging in groins, during these
draggings there was no discharge of blood, but always a flow on emission of
flatus, most profuse at noon and in afternoon. º Menses more profuse at
night than by day, with dragging pains, amel. pressure, on abdomen and
stooping. º Profuse menses, with cutting colic ; P. and lasting a day longer
than usual ; when walking and standing ; and dark ; on fourth and fifth days,
with headache, agg. evening. º M. came on in night, scanty at first, more
profuse next forenoon, in afternoon it ceased suddenly. º M. that had
disappeared for several years in a woman past the menopause returned and
flowed profusely for four days. º No discharge of M. during the pains, only
after them, and also at night in sleep. º M. glutinous, dark, almost like pitch,
difficult to wash off (Crocus).
Clinical :- º In pregnancy, nausea and vomiting of sour odor. º Irregular
menstruation and dysmenorrhœa, menses frequently prolonged, but worse
during the night than during the day ; the discharge dark, like pitch. º
Leucorrhœa, white, acid, preceded by colic, recurring especially after
menstruation (Alumina).

Respiratory Organs :- º Hoarseness ; towards evening. º Soft, pea-yellow,


offensive nodules, which he is obliged to hawk up, get into larynx, as if he
had swallowed the wrong way. º Contraction of trachea, with pain in pit of
throat. º Cough ; in afternoon from tickling in throat ; at night ; from
becoming heated ; with scraping in throat ; hollow, dull ; spasmodic, all
night ; with difficult, thin, salt expectoration. º Expectoration of mucus and
clots of blood of sweetish taste 5 P.M. º Short breath when walking.
Clinical :- º It has cured bronchial catarrh in children, with stringy
expectoration and with the peculiar greenish, sour stools (Kali bi.).

Chest :- º Stitches on sternum, above ensiform cartilage, at 1 P.M. ; beneath


left shoulder at 3.30 P.M. ; beneath left breast at 7 P.M. when sitting ; on
lower part of sternum at 9 P.M. when walking, with short breath ; beneath
left breast at 9 P.M. when sitting, then in sternum ; beneath left breast after
dinner, not affecting respiration ; deep in, from dinner till towards 5 P.M.,
with cutting, not affected by inspiration ; beneath right breast on
inspiration ; in left lowest ribs, agg. sitting ; beneath right breast at 10 A.M.,
extending towards navel ; in left breast at noon, extending to shoulders on
breathing ; extending beneath right breast and up through shoulder at 1.30
P.M. when standing ; in left costal region at 5 P.M. when standing, on
inspiration, extending upward beneath left scapula ; extending inward to
right of ensiform cartilage. º Cutting stitches in ribs beneath right axilla, not
affecting breathing ; C. stitches beneath left breast at 1 P.M. when yawning.
º Cutting in middle from 6.30 till 7 P.M., with sticking, not affecting

walking, with pinching and with difficult, short breath ; C. about middle at 6
P.M., with short breath ; at 6 P.M., amel. eructations, with weariness in
shoulders and pain as if dislocated in right middle finger. º Throbbing in left
in evening on falling asleep. º Burning internally beneath left breast at 10
A.M. when sitting, with sweetish taste in throat, then cough and
expectoration of tenacious brown mucus.
Heart :- º Stitch in præcordial region at 1 P.M. º Sudden sore pain after a
meal, with creaking and with nausea. º Palpitation.
Neck :- º Stitching in nape when sneezing. º Tearing, with jerking,
afterwards extending down back ; T. in tendons of right side at 6.30 P.M.,
with drawing.
Back :- º Stitching extending inward at 2 P.M. º Pain at night so that she
could not lie, and in small of B. º Pain at night as if beaten to pieces, agg.
motion.
Lumbar Region :- º Stitches ; above right hip ; in right at 1.30 P.M., then
jerking. º Sticking-burning and bruised pain extending from above left hip to
beneath shoulder, agg. stooping to left, amel. pressure and bending together,
with dry cough and stitches in side. º Tearing in lower part of spine, causing
shuddering, so that she bent backward, then stitches at 5 P.M. º Intermittent
pain during menses. º Bruised pain from morning till 2 P.M. ; from 4.30 till
lying down at 9 P.M. ; in afternoon and evening after menses. º Drawing pain
during menses ; amel. stooping, agg. stretching. º Dragging before
menstruation, agg. sitting, amel. walking, with cutting and pain as if
contracted and beaten the flow at first scanty, next day profuse and brown,
with relief of the pains, the third day scanty, ceased the fourth day, flow
more profuse at night. º Tightness above hips. º Sudden piercing pain in
coccyx.
Extremities :- º Soreness of all, and she turned from side to side. º
Weariness. º Crawling uneasiness in evening so that she must move the feet
constantly. º Paralysis of left leg, with pain in hips and knees, next day it
occurred in right leg and in arms, when walking he had constant pain and
was obliged to plant the feet far apart.
Upper Extremities :- º
Shoulders :- º Tearing from left to wrist ; in right, extending to right
clavicle and chest ; in left in forenoon, extending to middle of upper arm ; in
right in forenoon, extending into wrist, and on turning over the hand the pain

part of scapula ; in left at 5 P.M., extending to elbow. º Pain in right. º Pain in
right as if dislocated in morning and afternoon during menstruation, so that
it was difficult to raise the arm ; in right as if D. in afternoon on moving arm
and in bed on some motions ; in right in evening, with feeling as if arms
should hang down. º Paralytic bruised pain in left on moving arm and trunk
and on yawning. º Pressure. º Painful contraction in morning, with tearing
extending down back. º Tension extending to angle of lower jaw, so that he
could not stoop nor close the jaws.
Arm :- º Jerking. º Stitches under right, extending to axilla if she holds the
arm elevated and still, amel. moving arm. º Tearing above right elbow,
extending into middle of outer part of upper arm. º Paroxysmal cramp-like
grips above elbows, transiently amel. compression with other hand, with
hardness of muscles. º Pain in right as if dislocated on raising it carelessly. º
Drawing upward in A. º Weakness.
Elbow :- º Stitches in right at 8 A.M. on moving arm. º Tearing in right at 10
A.M. when knitting ; T. in under surface of right extending to middle of
forearm, as if in periosteum, when standing. º Gnawing in left at 7 P.M. º
Pain on flexing arm. º Sharp drawings about right, as if in bone, in evening
in bed.
º Stitches in tendons on anterior surface of right forearm above wrist in
forenoon. º Drawing in right forearm, extending into hand, with difficulty in
raising arm. º Wrist above thumb swollen and red, and bones painful to
pressure. º Stitching in left palm, then itching, amel. scratching. º Drawing
pain in hands. º Left hand upon which she had lain at night was asleep in
morning.
Fingers :- º Inflamed swelling, with sticking in first joint of index. º Tearing
on dorsal surface on first phalanx of right little at 9 A.M. ; in first joints of
right at 5 P.M. ; in left thumb and index evenings, then paralysis of both
fingers ; in first joint of right thumb, extending to nail ; in tips, extending to
backs of hands, in morning after rising. º Boring gnawing in first phalanx of
left thumb, as if in marrow, in forenoon. º Pain in first joint of right middle
as if dislocated at 6 P.M. º Cramplike sensation in joints. º Throbbing pain as
from an ulcer in tip of left thumb after dinner, amel. pressure. º Tension in
middle joint of left middle, mornings.
Lower Extremities :- º Sudden jerking in left in evening after falling
asleep, so that she started up in fright and could not sleep again for a long
time. º Pain in afternoon, agg. knees. º Uneasiness after prolonged sitting. º
Weakness when sitting and on rising from a seat, amel. moving about.
Thigh :- º Jerking posteriorly in hip, then in right hypochondrium. º Stitches
in left hip-joint ; in hip at outer surface of bone. º Tearing on anterior surface
from centre to knee ; T. from middle down to middle of leg, amel. rising
from seat, with stitches ; in left hip-joint from 4 P.M. till morning. º
Twinging in left hip and sacral region when walking after dinner, then desire
for stool preceded and accompanied by cutting in rectum. º Pain till

Leg :- º Cramp in calves in evening in bed ; in left calf at night on turning

º Bruised pain in tibiæ. º Burning painful spots on tibiæ. º Drawing
downward pain in evening. º Painful tension in tendo-achillis as far as calves
when walking rapidly. º Uneasiness in right at night, he must constantly put
it out of bed into a cool place.
º Bruised pain from left ankle to middle of tibia in morning on stepping on
it, amel. long walking. º Cramp in heels in morning in bed. º Sticking
downward deep in right heel at 9 P.M. in bed. º Jerking tearing in left heel at

Skin :- º Red spots on chest. º Tetter below mouth ; red, smooth, elevated,
on chest and calves, then desquamation. º Fine eruption on mouth. º
Swelling of right middle finger on the days when he had no stools, with
redness, heat and itching pimples. º Subcutaneous nodes in axillæ and above
elbows, with sticking. º Pimples here and there ; P. above knee ; on right
side of chin, almost daily giving place to fresh ones ; on left arm,
disappearing after scratching, but they do not itch ; red, above knee ; hard,
red, deep in skin in front of left shoulder, stinging on pressure, with one a
red areola ; hard, above right ear, painful to touch. º Itching pimples beneath

º Sleepless all night ; for several nights, and constant tossing about ; till
midnight ; from midnight till 2 A.M., then imperfect sleep till 5 A.M. ; from 1
till 5 A.M. ; after 2 or 3 A.M. ; till 3 A.M. ; on account of anxiety and
heaviness. º Late falling asleep ; on account of uneasiness in blood, then
restless sleep ; on account of uneasiness in blood, then restless sleep. º
Frequent waking during menses. º Restless sleep, with frequent waking. º
Tossing about at night, or if his body lay quiet his arms and legs jerked all
night, even when awake, on waking he knew nothing of the occurrences of
the night. º Starting up from sleep in afternoon ; S. up to about midnight,

Dreams :- º The symptomatology of dreams is very full, anxious, fatiguing,
frightening, vivid and obscure.
Fever :- º Chilliness from morning till evening ; at 7 P.M. in bed, amel. 9
P.M. ; in evening on undressing, amel. in bed ; in evening in bed, as if
dashed with cold water ; at 9.30 P.M., amel. in bed ; all night after a long
walk, and even in morning ; during menses ; during menses, always on
waking or uncovering herself. º Shaking chill at 9 P.M. ; in evening and in
bed ; at 10 P.M. in bed ; at 8 P.M., beginning in feet, amel. in bed, without
external coldness, next morning sweat. º Shivering down back every day at 9
A.M., with nausea. º Chill down back from 4 P.M., till sleep. º Cold feet as if
wading in cold water.
º Heat from 1 till 4 A.M. during sleep, with sweat ; in morning after rising till
towards noon ; in forenoon ; from noon till 2 P.M., with sweat on head ;
general with redness of face ; internal, at night, so that he could scarcely
remain covered, with dread of exposure ; streaming through whole body ;
dry at night ; dry, caused by animal food. º Burning in right ear ; in palms at
1 P.M. ; of face and hands at noon, with redness and thirst. º Heat in head,
with sweat on face in head and hands, with redness of face and external
heat ; in head in flushes, also at 6 P.M. ; internally in head at 1 P.M., but not
externally ; internal in head and external in face, with redness alternating
with pallor.
º Sweat during the day on motion ; towards morning ; in morning ; at night ;
(in a child) in evening on falling asleep ; offensive, at night ; sour-smelling
(Bry., Hep.), oily, difficult to wash off, all night. º Parched dryness of skin
towards morning in bed.
