This document describes a student project to design a wireless TV audio transmitter. The project was completed by 5 students and advised by Ashebir Ter. The transmitter allows users to listen to a TV's audio through headphones without disturbing others. It uses frequency modulation to transmit the audio signal from the TV's audio output to a portable FM receiver. The transmitter circuit includes a preamplifier for the audio signal, a variable frequency oscillator to produce the carrier frequency, and an antenna to transmit the modulated signal. The design aims to transmit audio over a longer distance compared to past projects by increasing the signal bandwidth and frequency range.

Abstract

This project allows you to watch your favorite TV programmers late at night without disturbing other
family members. The project uses a Frequency modulation transmission principle. Most modern TVs are
nowadays will equip with audio in/out and video in/out Radio Corporation of America sockets. Using an
Radio Corporation of America to Radio Corporation of America cord, connect the audio output of your
TV to the transmitter’s input and adjust the gain of the audio preamplifier for clear reception in a portable
Frequency modulation receiver equips with an earphone socket.

1 Introduction
1.1 Background
Wireless communication is one of the important medium of transmission of data or information to other
devices. It is a set of information that transmittes audio signal though the air without requiring any cables,
by using electromagnetic waves. In recent days, the wireless communication telephone has become
integral part of several types of communication devices as it allows user to communication even for
remote areas. The use of wireless communication are telephone, mobile and TV. It involves the
transmission of information over a distance without the help of cables, wires or any other forms of
electrical conductors. Wireless communication device applicable for transmition of data or information
from source to destination .So, our project deals with a transmission of audio signals. In electronics and
telecommunication a transmitter is an electronics device which is the aide of an antenna produces
different waves. The TV transmitter circuit consists of transistor for improving modulation and
production of carrier frequency. The audio signal to be modulated is pre-amplified using transistor and
can be associated components. The modulated audio signal is transmitted by an antenna. This TV
transistor circuit will be operates from 9V DC. The power supply or battery uses for purpose of reduced
noise and improve the performance. A power supply will be regulate and free from noise. In some area
wireless audio TVs transmitter may not work well. Because in some country TV uses different range of
frequency and large band width to transmission of audio signal for reduces of loss. If you want to watch
TV during night time it will be a disturbance for other family members. This circuit is used for in order to
get out of this problem by using headphones instead of speakers.

1.2 Statement problems

In wireless audio transmitter an audio signal cannot be transmits to long distance, due to the effect of
range of frequency. If the signal is broadcast with wide range, noise will present. Because the main part of
an audio signal will be fall below the noise floor of the transmission.

1.3 Objective of Project

The objective of the project resembles specific objects and general objective.

1.3.1 General Objective

The main objective of our project is to design wireless transmitter for TV transmission of audio signal.

1.3.2 Specific Objectives

1
 Transmit sound associated with the scene

 Transmit of audio without image

 To design one main transmitter circuit unit that takes analog input to the receiver of output.

 To replace the cable/wire with wireless system.

 To design a system that transmits the stereo audio sound then separates it into wireless speaker units
using two different frequencies.

1.4 Significance of Project

Wireless audio transmitter will be significant for transmission of audio to TV as well as portable music
system. . In case of transmitted an audio signals to the receiving devices, depends on the frequency of the
signals. By increasing the signal frequency we can transmit for a long distance without signal disturbance.

1.5 Scope of Project

The scope of our project is to design a wireless transmitter to transmit audio signal for local areas. We use
this low cost project one can produce audio from TV without disturbing others. In order to design this
project will be applicable for noise volume to be reduce, due to transmission cost is reduce and can be use
not only in TV applications but also in portable music system. It can be receive audio signals from TV
and listen to it from a certain distance. It can be used effectively reduce noise volume.

2 LITRATURE REVIEW

2.1 Over View

The wireless audio transmitter signal is applied to the base of the transmitter through resistor and
capacitor. The audio signal is pre amplified by transistors. We would be use transformers to increase
power transfer. The circuit we use a signal diode for allows the current flow in one direction on. This
project was demonstrated in a recent time. In 2014-2015 academic years, this project was design by the
students of M.H Saboo Siddik College of engineering, Mumbai University. They were design wireless
audiotransmitter for TV, but an audio signal cannot be transmitted to long distance .Because they used a
minimum band width (i.e. the signal transmission up to 20 feet). The band width of the audio signal can
be limited by a range of frequency. The range of frequencies are lower, the signal can be affected by
noise. Now a day, we would be modified this project. Mostly we would be modify the range of frequency
increase from the past was used. Due to this, the band width increase, the signal was transmitted to long
distance and noise reduced. The audio input is connected to the base of transistor through the resistor and
capacitor in series. A LC tank circuits is connected to the collector terminal of transistor. The tank circuit
LC produces the carrier frequency. The tank circuit consists of variable capacitor and resistor in parallel.
The modulation signals are fed to the antenna. An antenna is required to transmit to the signal. Antenna
takes the electrical signals converts them in to an electromagnetic radiation. This radiation is emitted by
the antenna.

2.3 Methodology
In our project; we can use the following methodologies.

1) Problem identification: Clearly stating of the problem about this area.

2) Literature reviewing: This includes reading books and document related areas

3) System modeling: Combining different components to describe the circuit.

4) System analysis and design: This indicates how the system behaves using calculations. Designing of
audio preamplifier:

a) Select the Vcc: we have select NPN Bipolar Junction Transistor (BJT). We use 9v battery for Vcc.

b) Selection of load resistor that is R4. To calculate this resistor let us assume this value to be about one
milliamp. The collector current is half of Vcc that is

4.5v so the load resistor (R4) is 5k.

c) To calculate R2 and R3 we use voltage divider. We need to calculate the bias current as well the
voltage across the resistor. The bias current is approximated to be 10 times the base current. The base
current (IB) equal to the collector current divided by the gain. IB =0.008milli ampere. The bias current is
10*0.008milli ampere equal to 0.08milli ampere. The voltage across the base (Vb) is assumed 0.7v more
than the emitter voltage (Ve). Now we assume Ve of 12% of vcc. i.e. Vb=1.o8+0.7=1.78v. So that R2
equal to Vb divided by bias current. i.e. R2=22k and R3 equal to (vcc-Vb) divided by bias current. i.=90k.

d) We select emitter resistor to find R5. The value of R5 is equal to voltage emitter divided by current
emitter. i.e. R5=Ve/I ,I.e. =Ice so R5 =0.54k.

3
e) Select coupling capacitor C1: this capacitor used for modulating the current going through the
transistor. Large value indicates low frequency. We select a value of 5UF.

f) Select the audio input to find R1: The purpose of this resistor is to limit the current through the input.
Let assume the current through the input to be 0.4milli ampere. This gives R1= (Vcc-Vb)/0.4=18k. We
select capacitor (C4) 15uF. 11
