Vent Tip Sizing Calc

This document summarizes calculations to determine the appropriate vent tip size for a block station in Utara, Indonesia under minimum and average wind speed conditions. Under minimum wind speed of 2.25 mph, the calculated vent tip height is 32 feet and width is 14.3 feet. Under average wind speed of 23.05 mph, the calculated vent tip height is 291.5 feet and the width extends 15.2 feet inside the vent. The calculations are based on flow rate, temperature, pressure and other parameters according to API RP 521 guidelines to ensure safe venting.

API RP 521 Section 4.3.2.2, if Re > 1.54x104 rg / rair, the released gas will be diluted to below the lower flammable limit
before the release passes out of the jet-dominated portion.
If the release is at too low a velocity and has too low a Reynolds number, jet entrainment of air will be limited, and the released
material will be wind dominated.
