1. In the context of the case study above, explain why you understand the following
terms: Knowledge Worker, Collaborative Culture and KM Initiatives.
à Knowledge Worker:
The work pattern in the Reserve Bank has begun to be improved for every employee
who has Knowledge Management provisions, the Governor of the Bank supports this
program to help communicate the initiatives of fellow employees.
I can conclude that what is meant in this case regarding the Knowledge Worker is: as
every employee is expected to have basic knowledge and lead to his / her skills, so that
they can be categorized into each department in the Bank. The benefits of a Knowledge
Worker include: (1) structured data, (2) adequate knowledge.
à Collaborative Culture:
It seems that in the case described, the Collaborative Culture in the Bank is not good,
because they explain that there are still difficulties in leadership. The initiatives are still
low, access to documents online is still difficult, and the Bank's infrastructure facilities
are low.
In this case, it can be said that Collaborative Culture itself means how to maintain
relationships with employees, because employees who carry out their work happily will
produce better performance. There is collaboration between employees from within the
department itself, because if between departments has not confirmed the delivery of
harmonious information. The way of leadership determines how the understanding of
the organization in a company. If the leadership itself is not good, and allows employees
to work independently, it will result in a poor work environment too. As the negative
impact that occurred in the Reserve Bank.
à KM Initiatives:
In this case, the employee, after understanding how Knowledge Management is in the
company, is able to identify how the responsibilities or main duties of each department
are. However, what the Bank does to categorize its employees is by grouping 4 parts,
namely: (1) person for information, (2) person to person, (3) institutionalizing
knowledge, and (4) collaborative culture.
So, I can conclude that the understanding of KM Initiatives based on the case above is:
understanding of worker patterns and knowledge among employees, or between
companies and employees. As this is something important because if there is a
minimum of KM Initiatives, they will not be able to fully understand the main duties
of employees. And for the company, it will result in low employee performance, if it
does not confirm the KM Initiatives.
2. Explain the relationship between data, information, knowledge and wisdom.
à The relationship between these four categories is in order to facilitate communication
and make it easier for employees to do their jobs. Because in this case trying to uphold
structured information management, and policies on its use. As it has been said,
information dissemination is much better within the department itself than between
departments. At the same time, these four categories assess how the quality of resources
in a company, especially within the Reserve Bank.
3. Describe briefly three main lesson learnt in the KM Initiatives of Reserve Bank.
à a) Have maximum abilities and sufficient knowledge of their ability to work, because
this will make it easier to work with other employees when doing joint projects. And
facilitate access to more information within the department itself.
b) How the company itself can emphasize the basic knowledge that employees must
have. Companies must be able to direct more about Knowledge Management in the
Reserve Bank, so that there is no more miscommunication of information.
c) Must be more active by himself, have more initiative before being reprimanded by
the boss. This provides the advantage of making work much easier and faster to
complete, and minimizing errors that would otherwise occur.
4. With reference to the case study, how can leadership style impact on the KM
initiatives of an organization.
à The character of a leader clearly influences the organization or company, because as a
leader it is used as an example by its employees. As if the leader is not competent, it
will affect company performance and employee performance. As a few problems
experienced by the Reserve Bank described in the last paragraph.
5. Why KM is important to organizations? What is the benefit of KM?
à It is said to be important because KM is information or knowledge provided by the
company, and can expand knowledge, so that an organization can acquire new
knowledge to become knowledge within the organization.
The benefits of KM itself are:
a) Staff and employees will know the information clearly, try to understand the goals
and suggestions, and policies of a company.
b) SOP of a company can be used as a reference for conducting training for staff and
employees.
c) Can increase labour productivity.
6. Explain Jann House of KM Model
à Jann Hidayat's individual learning model:
As humans are required to always learn about their environment (both external and
internal). Humans are also required to be able to place themselves according to their
respective abilities.
Jann Hidayat's organizational learning model:
The concept of learning uses the following methods: (1) Single Cycle Organizational
Learning (BOST), which occurs because the organization is said to have succeeded in
implementing the knowledge integration process through a mindset; (2) Dual Cycle
Organizational Learning (BOSG), which occurs because the organization is said to have
succeeded in implementing intellectual integration.
7. Explain what does it meant by learning organization (LO)? What is the
relationship between LO and KM?
à Learning organization is an organization that has the ability to always make
improvements to the quality of performance on a regular basis, because its members
have individual commitments and competencies who are able to learn and share
knowledge.
To achieve success and success according to company targets, companies need to
change organizational values and set new targets by creating and using intellectual
assets through Knowledge Management. This is because knowledge is an important
aspect in life and in the world of work, as well as for achieving competitive advantage
periodically.
8. Explain the importance of the people – process – technology framework in KM
Planning?
à The importance of a person or group of people, along with processes and technology is
as well as to create a better scope for a company's Knowledge Management Planning.
Because if there is one that has reduced or poor performance, the planning that has been
determined will not produce maximum results. These three aspects are sustainable and
must have the same role.
