How to update the KEMPER PROFILER Operating System via USB flash

drive
If your KEMPER PROFILERTM is connected to a PC or MAC with internet access, Rig Manager will automatically suggest
and perform updates as required. If your PROFILER is in a rehearsal room or another place without internet access, it
can be updated via USB flash drive. Here are the steps to perform an update of the PROFILER OS via USB flash drive:
You will need to use an empty USB flash drive to transfer the files from your Mac or PC to the KEMPER PROFILER.
Before you can use a USB flash drive, the PROFILER and drive need to get to know each other. This means that when
you connect a USB flash drive for the very first time, the PROFILER will create three folders on that drive: “Backups”,
“OS Update”, and "Shared". As soon as “USB Stick” appears below soft button 3, the USB flash drive is ready to go.
New USB flash drives are normally pre-formatted with the FAT32 file system, which is immediately compatible with the
PROFILER. No further action needed. If you plug in a USB flash drive that has been pre-formatted with another file
system like NTFS or exFAT, the PROFILER will automatically suggest reformatting the flash drive to FAT32. Please be
aware that this formatting will delete all data on the drive! After formatting, the PROFILER creates the three folders
mentioned above and “USB Stick” appears below soft button 3. Ready!
The next step is to download the latest operating system. Updates are free of charge and can be downloaded from the
following URL: www.kemper-amps.com
Expand the downloaded .zip archive and search for the update file named “kaos.bin” inside. Copy the file into the root
directory or OS Update folder on the pre-formatted USB flash drive using your Mac or PC. Next, unmount the USB flash
drive from your computer and plug it into the KEMPER PROFILER. Follow the on-screen instructions which will appear
after a couple of seconds.

Hints for users of classical PROFILER models running OS versions before 7.3
In case you are using a classical model (Head, PowerHead, Rack, PowerRack) with an OS version before OS 7.3, you
need to take one interim step before you can install the latest OS version e.g. 7.4.1. If the currently installed OS happens
to be even older than version 1.8.2, two interim steps are required. You can check which OS version is currently installed
on your PROFILER on the last page of System Settings:
Step 1: If current OS installed is older than 1.8.2, install 1.8.2 first. Then proceed with Step 2.
Step 2: If current OS installed is older than 7.3.2, install 7.3.2 first. Then move to Step 3
Step 3: From 7.3.2 upgrade to latest OS version.
