Emotionally, mental illness can make a person feel unhappy, sad, angry, and have reduced ability to concentrate. EFFECTS OF MENTAL ILLNESS

As we mentioned early, mental illness is the current issues that occurred in Malaysia,
especially among teenagers nowadays. Mental illness can occur regardless of a person’s
age whether old, adult, adolescent or children. Anyone who is facing this illness, of course
gives them the impact to their life. Mental illness can affect someone on their daily life,
physical health, emotional and behavioural.

Daily life: Mental illness can affect someone in their daily life. This can make them have
some problems or effects on their relationships with family, friends, partner, or even society.
Miller says, “Sometimes our mental health symptoms can make us feel lethargic, impact our
ability to express empathy or cause feelings of anxiety and isolation. Sometimes these
symptoms can cause co-dependency or even resentment of your partner, family, or friends.

Physical health problems: Depending on the mental illness involved and how well it is
treated, mental illness's impact on your health are extremely unpredictable. Mental health
problems are also exacerbating physical health problems. People with mental illness will be
developed heart disease and cancers more likely. The cost of medication increases, for
example, if the individual has depression to the costs of treating diabetes are increased and
health conditions are poorer.

Emotional: Mental illness can make someone who faces it can be so emotional and cannot
to control it. It is also can make them unhappy and decreased enjoyment in someone’s life.
For instance, someone who is having stress will feel sad, angry, fearful, down, aggressive,
tired, depressed, and so on. They also sometimes can be confused thinking or reduced
ability to concentrate, and also difficulty in making decisions.

Behavioural: People suffering from mental illness can make a difference to others Based on
their behaviour, which also can lead people to feel isolated from their friends Based on
considered unattractive personality characteristics or behaviours. It is also very difficult for
people with mental illness to look after themselves and take part in activities that damage
them. For instance, an individual who suffers from it may lead others to commit suicide in the
long-term consequences of mental illness. More than 90 percent of suicides are affected by
depression or other psychiatric illness, says the National Institute for Mental Health.

To say, there are so many consequences of mental illness that it happens to the person who
is experiencing it. But the four aforementioned symptoms are the main effects that occur
within a person suffering from a mental disorder.
