TERMS OF COMPETITION
It is important to note that each player has an obligation to act in a responsible and considerate manner regarding reducing
the risk from Covid-19 for themselves and others. This includes the responsibility for a player to abide by and enforce Covid-
19 Regulations as required by National Government, GolfRSA’s Tournament Risk Mitigation Plan (TRMP) as well the host
club’s Risk Mitigation Plan (RMP).
• All entrants, by completing the entry process and accepting the Terms of Competition agree to accept and
comply with all aspects of the host venue and GolfRSA Tournament Risk Mitigation Plan. This will include but
is not limited to the wearing of face masks, screening and santisation on each day of competition, maintaining
physical distancing and complying with all other Risk Mitigation requirements.
• Players whom display symptoms related to Covid-19 within 10 days of the Tournament MUST not travel to the
Tournament venue and MUST withdraw from the tournament and self-isolate in accordance with Government
Regulations. (Players withdrawing under these circumstances and subject to this provision will be eligible for a
full refund of entry fees.) Please note that GolfRSA and the host facility cannot be held liable for any other costs
incurred relating to travel, accommodation and other items relevant to the intended participation in the
tournament.
• Players whom at screening or during the tournament, display Covid-19 symptoms or have a temperature of 38
degrees Celsius or higher, will be denied access to the facility and will be immediately withdrawn from the
Tournament. Players withdrawn under these circumstances will not be permitted access to the facilities and are
advised to self-isolate for a period of 10 days.
3. Eligibility
The Championship is open to any male amateur who is a member of a golf club affiliated to a Union recognized by
GolfRSA and who, at the time of submitting his entry, shall have a handicap index of one point zero (1.0) or less,
assessed in terms of the GolfRSA Course Rating and Handicapping System, or an equivalent handicap assessed under
an alternative system acceptable to GolfRSA.
4. Exemption Categories
In the event of GolfRSA receiving more than 144 entries, the following players will be granted exemption from having to
participate in Regional Qualifying Rounds:
4.1 All past SA Amateur champions;
4.2 Top 64 players from the 2020 AON SA Amateur Championship;
4.3 4 Players as nominated by the Provincial Unions which would have been in the A section of the 2020 SA Premier
Inter Provincial Tournament;
4.4 4 Players as nominated by the Provincial Unions which would have participated in the B Section of the 2020 SA
Premier Inter Provincial Tournament.
4.5 All international players invited by GolfRSA;
4.6 Five (5) junior golfers as determined by GolfRSA;
4.7 Four (4) players as nominated by GolfRSA who meet the Transformation and Development goals of GolfRSA.
4.8 Top fifty (50) players on the GolfRSA Player Rankings (Aged Points Performances) as at 31st December 2020;
4.9 2 Players as nominated by each of the Northern Cape and Limpopo Golf Union;
4.10 The Current SA Mid-Amateur Stroke Play Champion not otherwise exempt;
4.11 The top three (3) players on the GolfRSA Mid-Amateur Ranking as at 31st December 2020;
4.12 Three (3) Ernie Els Foundation members otherwise not exempt;
4.13 The leading eligible player as of 22nd December 2020 of each “Race to 2021” OoM as hosted by Provincial Unions
(whom may be exempted from the HI limitation in 3 above).
4.14 Other entrants as determined by GolfRSA.

6. Rules of Golf
The Championship and its Regional Qualifying Rounds will be held in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved
by the R&A Rules Ltd, GolfRSA’s Permanent Local Rules (‘Hard Card’) and Additional Local Rules approved by
GolfRSA. Copies of the Additional Local Rules are available from GolfRSA at the Championship venue and from the
party responsible for the staging of each Regional Qualifying Round. All entrants are advised to familiarize themselves
with these Additional Local Rules.
7. Dress Code
Only golf specific attire will be permitted during the Championship and this regulation applies to all players when on the
golf course and any practice facility during any official Championship tournament or practice day.
Players incorrectly dressed will not be permitted to play and any queries in this regard should be made to the
Tournament Director to avoid embarrassment.
8. Player Registration
All competitors must register with GolfRSA at the Royal Johannesburg &Kensington Golf Club between the hours of
08h00 and 16h00 on Friday the 12th or 08h00 and 14h00 on Saturday the 13th February 2021.
Failure to register will result in the player being removed from the Qualifying Draw (see 1.1) unless mitigating
circumstances can be proven.
9. Practice
9.1 It is the player’s responsibility to make his own arrangements with the venue for any practice rounds prior to Friday
12th February 2021 (this applies to the Regional Qualifying Rounds as well). Competitors can call Royal
Johannesburg & Kensington at 011 640 3021 to book their tee times.
9.2 The official Championship practice rounds are Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th (on both the East and West
Courses) prior to the commencement of the Championship. To book your Official practice times please contact
GolfRSA offices on 082 374 3456, during office hours (08h00 to 16h00) from Monday 1st February 2021. (Please
note that both courses are available to both men and woman participants over these days)
9.3 All official practice times will be allocated on a first come first served basis and are open for players participating
in the Championship only.
9.4 Each player is responsible for making his own practice time booking (no player will be entitled to book a
place for another player or a fourball which he can fill at his discretion).
10. Caddies
Only caddies registered with Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club will be permitted to caddie during
the Championship. Outside caddies that wish to register with Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club must do so
by Saturday 13th February 2021 (Tel. 011 640 3021). Caddies will be required to present valid identification in order to
register. Reimbursement of all caddies is by agreement between player and caddie but will be guided by the minimum
applicable rates as indicated by Royal Johannesburg & Kensington and any daily caddie levy applicable will be due to
the club even for outside caddies. All persons fulfilling the role of a caddie accept that they will be subject to the
conditions and use of facilities as available to Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Caddies.
11. Transportation
Players and their caddies must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorised by the
Committee. The stipulated rounds include the official practice rounds on Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th February
and all tournament rounds. A Breach of this condition during a tournament round will see the player assessed a penalty
under the Rules of Golf. Any breaches during official practice rounds will see players subject to Disciplinary sanction
and possible removal from the Championship field.
Spectators must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorised by the Committee.
18. Publicity
GolfRSA/WGSA, the host venue and the sponsors of the Championship may arrange publicity before, during and after
the Tournament in the press, by live and recorded radio, television and by filming. By entering the Championship, the
players’ assent to references to them and pictures or video footage of them at practice and in play appearing and being
used for commercial purposes by GolfRSA/WGSA and their Sponsors.
19. Liability
The host club, host Union, GolfRSA/WGSA and its management will not be held liable or responsible for any damages,
loss, including personal loss and or other forms of loss, harm or injury sustained as stipulated below:
• Physical and/or emotional injuries suffered by any person, including a player or spectator, during the
tournament, due to any acts of God, suffered as a direct result thereof, including aspects such as being
struck by lightning, etc.
• Physical injuries of any kind suffered by any person, including a player or spectator, sustained by own
negligence, or otherwise.
• Emotional injuries sustained due to any loss, including death, suffered as a result of any of the above
injuries sustained personally or by a spectator.
• Damages suffered to any property of a player or spectator.
• Any financial costs endured by a golfer due to disqualification / failing to read the Terms of Competition
/ not getting into the Championship etc.
Competitors who have illnesses or conditions that require them to take particular medications or undergo procedures
may have to apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE). If the medication or method a competitor requires to treat
an illness or condition falls under the Prohibited List, a TUE may give that athlete the authorisation to use the required
medicine or method. Only certain categories of Competitors need to apply for a TUE in advance. Competitors should

of Competitors need to apply for a TUE in advance from SAIDS. Competitors who are taking medication and are in
doubt as to their clinical status, should seek advice from GolfRSA no later than 30 days before the start of the
Championships.
