Direction: Answer the following open-ended questions with the best of your ability. Use at least 300
words in writing your insights based on the discussions for module 1.

“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”-
Malcolm X

1. Section 2 – Declaration Policy of RA 9163 states that “It is hereby affirmed the prime duty of
the government to serve and protect its citizens. In turn, it shall be the responsibility of all citizens
to defend the security of the State and in fulfillment thereof, the government may require each
citizen to render personal, military, or civil service.” How can you contribute to the State as a
student of NSTP?

As a citizen of the state, I think my biggest contribution would be studying well and finishing my
degree. As a state university scholar, the best way to give back to the country is to study well and
prepare myself to work to improve my life and my family. I will also participate in community
initiative activities to help people around me. I will also find ways of helping others on my own,
like how I am doing right now with helping people and providing food during my birthdays and
Christmas holidays. As a student, we are capable of being law abiding citizens. We can follow
basic laws like throwing garbage properly, not smoking on non-smoking areas and following
traffic and pedestrian rules. After I finish my degree, I will look for a job that will provide
financial stability to my family and at the same time, allow me to help people. Once I have a job,
I will ensure that I will pay the right taxes.

2. In your own words, how do you define National Service Training Program and Civic
Welfare Training Service?

National Service Training Program (NSTP) is a subject that will teach you to love your country
and protect it anytime at any cause if it’s needed. Be a law abiding citizen. It also teaches you on
how to be prepared when there is a calamity or typhoon. NSTP in general, teaches us how to help
our country by improving our lives and the lives of the people in our community. Civic Welfare
Training Service gives us the opportunity to help out in our own communities by doing initiatives
that will contribute to the betterment of the people.

3. Have you participated in voluntary, civic consciousness activity, or community immersion

programs before? Tell us about your experience.

I haven’t had any experiences in voluntary or civic consciousness activities since the opportunity has not
presented itself yet. However, I do my own charity initiatives by providing food to the homeless in
celebrating my birthday and Christmas season and helping out people whenever I can. I think that NSTP
and CWTS is a good way for young people to have a CARE mind-set and help people in need.
