Crash barriers formally known as Directional Beams are Vehicle
Restrain Systems (VRS) according to the European Norm EN 1317

GMI provides high Quality road barriers for the uttermost customer satisfaction

Construction Material

All GMI steel safety barriers are made of hot strip steel quality S235 JRG2 (Mild
Steel) with its proven mechanical and technological properties according to EN
10025/8.4.1 (S235JRG is fully killed aluminium steel). This material has proven
itself for use in steel safety barriers and is very suitable for production without
aging. The basic material must be suitable for galvanising.
The GMI steel safety barriers are produced to manufacturers specifications,
based on International Standards and in accordance with National Standards.
These National Specifications define the type of steel safety barrier assembly and
contain drawings of the essential components as well as making references to
compliance with the Norm EN 1317.
The GMI manufacturing process differentiates between horizontal, vertical and
other construction parts.

Machinery

Our Plant machineries, equipments and tools are capable of producing steel
crash barriers to international and national standards.
- Horizontal and vertical parts such as beams ,box profiles and posts are made on
a fully automated production line.

- Other construction parts are stamped., bored and edged on various machineries.
Construction parts such as space bars, spacer elements, fittings, post
brackets etc. are made on different hydraulic and ex-centric presses. For these
tasks, GMI has a wide range of tool sets for specific requirements.

- Radius profiles are bending on three-roll forming machinery..

- Diverse manual welding stations are used for welding accessories.

The welding procedures:- manual electrode and manual protective Gas
(MIG/MIG)as well as Automatic Protective Gas are used.
The GMI steel safety barriers are galvanised for surface protection.

Hot Dip galvanizing as per EN ISO 1461.

The hot dip galvanising of steel components for corrosion protection has proven
itself over many years. This also applies to crash barriers components
which maintain their function for decades due to this excellent surface treatment.
GMI is only manufacturer of Outdoor Lighting Products in Qatar. We Design &
manufacture all kinds of poles (hot dip galvanized) & lighting fixtures as a measure
towards vertical diversification with latest technologies to provide better solutions
to our customers requirements.
Octagonal poles are produced from high grade hot rolled steel coils by an
automated procedure of cutting and folding/pressing the trapezoidal sheet into
octagonal shape and welding the sides longitudinally by submerged arc welding
Below is the illustration of some standard octagonal poles for street lighting
applications complying with QCS.
Specifications can be catered as per the requirement of clients.

We offer wide range of Galvanized Steel poles for our customers as per the high
quality QCS Standard under the strict supervision of our QA/QC dept.
The quality is normally carried to particular specifications provided by the client, in
compliance with the dictated standards.

Our pole products

 High Masts
 Stadium Mast
 Communication Tower
 Octagonal poles
 Round conical poles
 Signal Poles
GMI manufactures High Masts ideally suitable for the lighting of wide areas like
Sport Ground, Stadiums, Highways, Interchanges, Airports, Harbours, Open
parking lots etc.

High masts are manufactured from 12 to 30 meter or above and are polygonal in
shape with continues tapered steel and electrically welded. The mast is an assembly
of 2-4 shafts joined together by means of “pressure” over-lapping, section per
section, rendering firm grip and are joined by telescopic slings.
We offers High grade hot rolled steel coils by an automated procedure of cutting,
bending and folding/pressing the trapezoidal sheet into octagonal shape and welding
the sides longitudinally by submerged arc welding.

Improving the customer experience with absolute integrity is exemplifies by how
GMI engineers are focused on delivering innovative and time-proven solutions for
traffic sign for a busy city intersections and highways.
GMI traffic structures provide the look and quality you need.

Facilitating driver and pedestrian safety by designing robust support structure

which meets QCS specifications.
GMI offers Hot Dip Galvanization is the process by which protective Zinc coating
against corrosion by dipping articles in a molten zinc bath. These process gives an
excellent protection to the steel internally and externally.

Size of our Plant is :- LBH 14.5M X 3M X1.8M

Hot Dip Galvanizing is performed at our factory conforming to British Standard BS-
ISO1461, American Standard ASTM A-123 or to any other approved international
standards as desired by the client.

located in Qatar with the most
updated technology.

GMI hot dip galvanizing plant

has the biggest kettle in Qatar
with dimension more than
14.5 L * 1.8W * 3H( m) and
biggest production rate about
60.000 ton/year.

GMI HDG Plant unique with jig

capacity 8 Ton.

Galvanization 3
SCOPE OF HDG
Hot- dip galvanization(HDG) process known
as(Cathodic Protection)general galvanizing
produces a zinc coating on iron and steel
products by immersion the material in a bath
of liquid zinc at 450 c.

Zinc reacts with iron on the steel surface to

form a zinc/iron alloy, above these layers a
pure zinc layer is formed with suitable thick-
ness.

WHY HDG?
HDG preform long life steel protection.
Zinc coating has a good resistance against mechanical damages and weather conditions.
Good surface appearance. Good adhesion.
Low cost.

GMI HDG plant unique with hot acidic degreaser to remove grease and oil from the steel surfaces.
Surface is treated chemically inside an environmental friendly pretreatment area.
Scale and rust normally are removed from steel surface by pickling.
Fluxing is the final surface preparation step in the galvanizing process.
The material is then dried at (100:150) °C before immersing in molten zinc.

3-HOT DIP GALVANIZING

In this step, the material is completely immersed in a bath consisting of
99.995% pure molten zinc. Kettle dimension is 14.5 L * 1.8W * 3.0 h(m)
GMI hot dip galvanizing plant is ready to galvanize products with maximum

4- UNLOADING&FINISHING
Known as Touch up, it is final operation that is
applied to the coating in order to remove ex-
cess zinc, sharp edge tears or spikes and also
repair of un-galvanized area(if any)according
to galvanization standards.

5-INSPECTION
Finally, products are tested by the quality
control department to assure the galvaniza-
tion thickness, surface appearance and the
adhesion of zinc to the products surface.

6- HIGH QUALITY PRODUCT

GMI HDG plant unique with Q.C during the
galvanization process and after galvanization
to obtain the high quality product according to
reference standard of HDG(ASTM, DIN 50976,
